{"id":51883,"date":"2022-08-30T08:29:29","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T15:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=51883"},"modified":"2022-08-30T09:29:55","modified_gmt":"2022-08-30T16:29:55","slug":"officials-inject-11m-into-monkeypox-vax-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=51883","title":{"rendered":"Officials inject $11M into monkeypox vax production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Monday announced it is providing about $11 million of funding to support domestic production of the Jynneos smallpox vaccine being used to limit the spread of the ongoing monkeypox outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HHS said in a statement that the funds would be used to support manufacturing at the Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing (GRAM) facility in Grand Rapids, Mich.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where the funds go:\u00a0<\/strong>According to the department, these funds will allow the GRAM to purchase additional equipment necessary to manufacture the smallpox vaccine as well as help accelerate production.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new agreement solidifies a domestic manufacturing capability that will bring us more vaccine sooner to end this outbreak,\u201d HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The announcement comes a little over a week after an agreement between GRAM and Bavarian Nordic, the Danish company that makes Jynneos, was made public.
