{"id":5219,"date":"2018-01-09T23:31:21","date_gmt":"2018-01-10T07:31:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=5219"},"modified":"2018-01-09T23:33:12","modified_gmt":"2018-01-10T07:33:12","slug":"former-state-senator-bob-huff-announces-run-for-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=5219","title":{"rendered":"FORMER STATE SENATOR BOB HUFF ANNOUNCES RUN FOR CONGRESS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Enters Race with Strong Name ID &amp; Fundraising Capability<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DIAMOND BAR, CA \u2013 Former State Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff announced today that he will run for the Republican nomination to succeed Representative Ed Royce in California\u2019s 39<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Congressional District. \u00a0He is an experienced businessman and an accomplished legislator who\u00a0has\u00a0successfully\u00a0advocated for\u00a0leaner government,\u00a0job creation and tax relief.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Huff.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5221\" src=\"https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Huff.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Huff.jpg 360w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Huff-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEd Royce represented the people of this district with honor, accomplishment and accountability, and we\u2019re all grateful for his service,\u201d Huff said. \u201cI\u2019ve worked closely with\u00a0Ed\u00a0over the years and I am ready to continue his legacy by providing effective leadership in this diverse district.\u00a0\u00a0The people here know me through my\u00a0twelve\u00a0years of representing them in Sacramento as a common-sense legislator who works\u00a0hard\u00a0to get things done.\u00a0\u00a0I\u2019ve fought to\u00a0cut job-choking regulations, keep our tax burdens low and\u00a0ease traffic congestion on our streets and freeways. In Congress, I will continue this fight, where our abundant regulations have driven jobs overseas. Additionally, I will be a strong voice and vote to combat our growing global and domestic terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Senator Huff enters the race with strong name identification. He\u00a0easily won a contested GOP primary in 2008 62%-38% to the 29<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0State Senate District \u2013\u00a0which overlaps\u00a0Royce\u2019s Congressional District. \u00a0That fall he defeated\u00a0the Democrat candidate 54%-39%, a 50,000-vote\u00a0margin. \u00a0He was re-elected in 2012 with more than 55% of the vote.\u00a0 Huff\u2019s impressive fund-raising experience will also serve him well, with a strong donor base in the district and throughout California by way of his prior role as Senate GOP Leader.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Huff has also been recognized for his efforts to improve the business and jobs climate in California. He was recognized as the 2011 Job Champion by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, received a perfect score on the California Chamber of Commerce Legislative Scorecard and received a 100% ranking on the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Legislative Scorecard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He has received a 100% or \u201cA\u201d rating from the following groups:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>California Taxpayers Association<\/li>\n<li>Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association<\/li>\n<li>California Chamber of Commerce<\/li>\n<li>National Federation of Independent Businesses<\/li>\n<li>California Farm Bureau Federation<\/li>\n<li>California Manufacturers and Technology Association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A resident of Diamond Bar, Bob Huff served on the City Council from 1995-2004, and was chosen by his colleagues to serve as Mayor in 1997 and 2001.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Huff attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, where he earned a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Psychology, graduating with honors.
