{"id":52988,"date":"2022-10-02T09:31:54","date_gmt":"2022-10-02T16:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=52988"},"modified":"2022-10-03T09:32:19","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T16:32:19","slug":"abrams-fetal-heartbeat-comments-draw-ire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=52988","title":{"rendered":"ABRAMS&#8217; FETAL HEARTBEAT COMMENTS DRAW IRE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recent comments made by Georgia\u2019s Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams regarding fetal heartbeats were a hot topic among GOP lawmakers on Thursday during a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing examining abortion restrictions across the country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Abrams has faced heavy criticism from the right following a comment she made last week during a panel discussion in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cThere is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks,\u201d Abrams said. \u201cIt is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have a right to take control of a woman\u2019s body away from her.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWithin the first four weeks of pregnancy, the baby develops a heartbeat, despite, by the way, claims of my home state\u2019s gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, this is not merely a manufactured sound,\u201d said Rep.
