At the UN General Assembly,\u00a0President Biden\u00a0made it clear yet again that\u00a0we will support the people of Ukraine for as long as it takes. \u00a0Recent developments from\u00a0Russia\u2019s\u00a0sham\u00a0referenda and\u00a0attempted annexation\u00a0to new revelations of brutality against civilians\u00a0in\u00a0Ukrainian territory\u00a0formerly\u00a0controlled\u00a0by Russia\u00a0only strengthens our\u00a0resolve. \u00a0United\u00a0with our Allies and partners\u00a0from 50\u00a0nations, we are delivering the arms and equipment that Ukraine\u2019s forces are utilizing so effectively\u00a0today\u00a0in\u00a0a\u00a0successful counter-offensive\u00a0to take back\u00a0their lands\u00a0seized illegally by Russia.<\/p>\n

Pursuant to a delegation of authority from the President, I am authorizing our twenty-second\u00a0drawdown of U.S. arms and equipment for Ukraine since\u00a0August\u00a02021. \u00a0This\u00a0$625 million drawdown\u00a0includes additional arms, munitions, and equipment from U.S. Department of Defense inventories. \u00a0 This drawdown will bring the total U.S. military assistance for Ukraine to\u00a0more than\u00a0$17.5\u00a0billion\u00a0<\/b>since the beginning of this Administration.<\/p>\n

We will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine as they defend their freedom and independence with extraordinary courage and boundless determination. \u00a0The capabilities we are delivering are carefully calibrated to make the most difference on the battlefield and strengthen Ukraine\u2019s hand at the negotiating table when the time is right.<\/p>\n
