The exhibition will be on view through Mar 26th, 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Even\u00a0in the middle of\u00a0a historical rainy weather\u00a0a hundred influential art and cultural professionals from all over Los Angeles and nearby areas including Tony Ding, the mayor of the city of San Gabriel, attended the exhibition opening reception on February 25th, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This large-scale exhibition titled <em>Objects of Contemplation<\/em>, is also Hill&#8217;s very first time showing his artworks in Chinese American Communities in Los Angeles. After losing my wife in 2013, a powerful transformation took place within me as an artist; I seek out eternity through art. This exhibition is a look into this metamorphosis and all of its works created since then; it also allows for reflection on where I find myself currently regarding creativity and career growth.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The exhibition features over 50 pieces of artwork created by Hill dating from 1985, delivering a range of Hill\u2019s inspirations and material utilization through various stages of his artistic expression.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Charles Christopher Hill is a world-renowned artist who lives and works in Venice, California. For decades, Hill&#8217;s work has been widely exhibited at museums in California and around the world. His work has been featured in many prestigious museum collections, such as the Muse\u0301e d&#8217;Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Frederick R. He has contributed to bridging classic and modern aesthetics with his works. The exhibition showcases over 50 pieces that Hill created since 1985 \u2013 such a veritable feast! \u201c Yiwei Lu, the curator of this exhibition said, \u201c It is important to bring diverse voices into all communities, I hope to achieve this with Mr.Hill&#8217;s showcase here in San Gabriel which is an Asian American community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The patience the artist upheld to hand-tear paper and cohere the fragments layer by layer resonates with the remitting effort to burnish the gesso. Though we can see modern elements such as newspaper prints and hat shapes, the show still brought us to that early but genuine age. According to the artist, \u201cmy work builds on visual clues left by previous cultures; I like physical anthropology.\u201d A palpable chronological string has revealed &#8211; the sophisticated backdrop is simplified into swathes of plain colors, while daily objects are condensed into sheer shapes surrounded by exposed raw surface edges. When the audiences start to trace the shapes and colors, they immerse themselves into the void as if the paintings serve as an entrance towards the cosmos. The minimalist portrayal on canvas brings up a fascinating contrast with the approaching finesse of Hill\u2019s technique while echoing the Taoist idea &#8211; \u201cthe simplest is the most
