The Consulate\u2002General\u2002of People\u2019s Republic of China in Los Angeles will\u2002adopt the\u2002new requirements for Chinese visa application\u2002as the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

I.<\/strong>Who can apply<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Visa applications\u2002shall be submitted in accordance with the consular\u2002jurisdiction. Applications from outside of the\u00a0<\/span>service area of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles<\/span><\/a>\u2002will be returned.\u2002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2161.Who do not need to apply for a\u2002new visa<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1)\u2002Foreign nationals who are subject to mutual visa exemption agreements;<\/span><\/p>\n

2)\u2002Holders\u2002with valid APEC Business Travel Cards (Virtual\u2002ABTC\u2002excepted,\u2002<\/span><\/p>\n

3)\u2002all kinds of valid residence permits,<\/span><\/p>\n

4)\u2002valid foreign permanent resident permit ID card;<\/span><\/p>\n

5)\u2002Personnel\u2002who\u2002apply\u2002to\u2002the Hainan 30-day visa-free policy, 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign cruise-group-tour through Shanghai Port, Guangdong 144-hour visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong or Macao SAR, and Guangxi 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups of ASEAN countries;<\/span><\/p>\n

6)\u2002Personnel who\u2002under the 24-hour Transit Visa Exemption Program\u2002are allowed to enter the Mainland of China with no need to apply for new visas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Please note:<\/span><\/p>\n

*The United States and Canada are transitional members of the APEC travel card program, and the APEC business travel cards issued by the United States and Canada do not have visa functions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2163.How\u2002to\u2002submit\u2002visa\u2002applications<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.\u2002The applicants\u2002shall fill\u2002out\u2002the “China Online\u2002Visa Application(COVA)”\u2002form on\u00a0<\/span>https:\/\/cova.mfa.gov.cn\/<\/span><\/a>. After that, the applicants\u2002shall make appointment through\u2002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>Visa Application Submission (AVAS)\u201d\u2002\u2002on\u00a0<\/span>https:\/\/avas.mfa.gov.cn<\/span><\/a>\/\u2002for on-site submission\u2002of the visa applications\u2002at the Visa Office of the Consulate\u2002General .\u2002<\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u2002The applicants\u2002or agents\u2002shall take the\u2002printed “AVAS\u2002Confirmation”\u2002page<\/strong>\u2002and other visa application materials, and visit the Visa Office to submit the visa applications\u2002at the appointed time. If the applicants\u2002or\u2002agents\u2002shall be\u2002unable to\u00a0visit\u00a0the Visa Office a\u2002the appointed\u2002time,\u00a0they\u2002should cancel the present appointment at least\u2002one\u2002business\u2002day in advance\u2002through AVAS. Otherwise, the COVA\u2002application\u2002ID\u2002and the\u2002AVAS\u2002appointment\u2002number\u2002will be invalid. The applicants\u2002need\u2002to\u2002fill in new\u2002COVA form\u2002and make another\u2002appointment\u2002through \u2002AVAS.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u2002The agents\u2002could only submit visa applications with the AVAS appointment\u00a0date\u2002same to the date of visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.\u2002For the applicants\u2002who need to visit China urgently for humanitarian causes(including funeral attendance or visiting critically ill relatives)\u2002,\u00a0they\u2002can apply for waiver of appoint requirement. The following is the procedure:<\/span><\/p>\n

4.1\u2002The applicants\u2002shall fill out\u2002the “China Online Visa Application(COVA)” form on\u00a0<\/span>https:\/\/cova.mfa.gov.cn\/.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

4.2\u2002The applicant shall fill out\u00a0the Urgent Visa Application Request Form<\/em>(click Annex 5 for download),\u00a0and email the form with supportive documents to\u00a0<\/span>la_hr@csm.mfa.gov.cn<\/span><\/a>. The subject of the email must be “urgent visa + state of residence + applicant’s name + passport number”. Once approved, the applicant will receive an email from the Visa Office. The applicant shall take the printed email and other visa application materials, visit the Visa Office to submit the visa applications on the appointed date.<\/span><\/p>\n

Annex 1\u2002Important Tips for online COVA visa form filling<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

(1) Please carefully read the prompts and requirements of the COVA form system, and complete the entries of the visa application COVA online form step by step, making sure that the information is true, accurate and complete. Please note: Once the application form has been submitted, it cannot be modified in any way.<\/span><\/p>\n

(2)\u2002The”location”option\u2002for submitting the visa application\u2002should\u2002be\u2002in\u2002line\u2002with\u2002the\u2002consular\u2002jurisdiction.<\/span><\/p>\n

(3) Basic personal information. Surname, middle\u2002name\u2002(please\u2002fill\u2002the\u2002middle\u2002name\u2002into\u2002\u20021.1C\u2002together\u2002with\u2002the\u2002given\u2002name),given names, gender, date of birth, nationality, passport number, passport type, etc. must be exactly the same as those on the passport information page, otherwise your visa application will be returned.<\/span><\/p>\n

(4) If you were born in China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), please note:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Application form 1.1E The native language name must be entered in Chinese with the Chinese character input method, please do not fill in “Chinese”, “Chinese\u2002language”, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. In the application form 1.6G, select “Yes” for “former nationality”, and then select the nationality information.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Item 1.6H of the application form is required\u2002if the applicant was\u2002born\u2002in\u2002China\u2002and\u2002is applying for a Chinese visa for the first time.\u2002This entry will be automatically generated during the form filling process.<\/span><\/p>\n

(5) Completely fill in the work experience and educational background<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Please fill in the complete work experience after graduation from school.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. The \u201cposition\u201d and \u201cduty\u201d of the application form 3.3D and 3.3E must be filled in completely.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Please fill in the complete learning experience since high school in 4.2, and the diploma\/degree and major in 4.2C and 4.2D must be completed.<\/span><\/p>\n

(6) Completely fill in each address<\/span><\/p>\n

The address of the spouse in 5.5A of the application form, and the addresses of the parents in 5.5B and 5.5C must fill in the address of the current location, not the address of the place of birth. The address must be filled in completely, including street, city, state, and country.<\/span><\/p>\n

(7) If you choose “not applicable” for any entry in the form, you need to state the reason for \u201cnot applicable\u201d.\u2002<\/span><\/p>\n

(8)\u2002Printing and signing.
