Harvard University<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina<\/em>,\u00a0striking\u00a0down established law that permits the consideration of race as one of many factors in a holistic and individualized admissions process for institutions of higher learning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Committee of 100 Interim President and Executive Director Cindy Tsai stated:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cToday\u2019s\u00a0decision\u00a0strikes\u00a0down established legal precedent that permitted higher education institutions to consider race as one of many factors in a holistic and individualized admissions process while prohibiting quotas, admissions caps, and minimums. Committee of 100 is disappointed by the Court\u2019s decision to abolish race-conscious admissions\u00a0policies. For centuries, college admissions policies discriminated against women and minorities. Race-conscious admissions\u00a0policies\u00a0started to correct that inequity and gave students of all backgrounds access to higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We believe an admissions process that considers each student holistically, including life experiences, accomplishments, and racial background, creates the richest educational experience for all and contributes to a stronger and more diverse and inclusive country.
