Pasadena, CA<\/em> (July 05, 2023)<\/strong>\u2013 The Pasadena POPS Rusnak Summer Concert series\u00a0<\/strong>continues on\u00a0Saturday, July 15\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0Kings of Soul.<\/strong>\u00a0Resident Pops Conductor Larry Blank will lead the orchestra with special guests Kings of Soul, who will shine a spotlight on the hit songs of\u00a0Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Otis Redding, The Temptations, Al Green, Barry White and Smokey Robinson<\/strong>\u00a0in an evening of soulful rhythms and melodies. Highlights include\u00a0Soul Man, Shop Around, Get Ready, Try a Little Tenderness, Stand By Me, Move On Up, Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0and more to get the audience dancin\u2019 in the aisles!<\/p>\n

Kings of Soul<\/strong>\u00a0is comprised of three vocalists touting a breadth of stage and screen experience.\u00a0Chester Gregory\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Broadway credits include\u00a0Motown the Musical, Dreamgirls<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Sister Act,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Darren Lorenzo<\/strong>\u00a0has been seen on Broadway and touring productions of\u00a0After Midnight, Legally Blonde, Saturday Night Fever, Madagascar, Fosse, Hair<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Once on This Island<\/em>,<\/strong>\u00a0among others. You may remember\u00a0Michael Lynche<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0\u201cBig Mike\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0from his turn as a finalist on\u00a0American Idol\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>season 9, where he wowed millions of fans with his comforting and powerful voice. Lynche has since toured as an opening act for\u00a0Boyz II Men, Lalah Hathaway<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Faith Evans<\/strong>.\n<\/div>\n

All concerts are held at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens. Grounds open for\u00a0\u00a0picnicking and dining at 5:30pm and performances begin at 7:30pm. Single ticket holders may purchase guaranteed and convenient parking at Santa Anita Park Lot 6, located just across Baldwin Ave., with complimentary non-stop shuttle service to the Arboretum\u2019s main entrance.
