This course is available in English, Spanish, Hmong and Punjabi. Text \u201cCAWINTER\u201d to 20202 via SMS to sign up.<\/p>\n<p>The state this year has\u00a0<strong>more flood fighting materials prepositioned in vulnerable communities<\/strong>, including<strong>\u00a02.2 million more sandbags<\/strong>. The State-Federal Flood Operations Center supported<strong>\u00a0pre-season emergency response coordination meetings across the state<\/strong>, and the Department of Water Resources has\u00a0<strong>provided flood fight training<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a038\u00a0cities, tribal partners, reclamation districts and agencies this year\u00a0<strong>so far in\u00a023\u00a0counties<\/strong>\u00a0across the state.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor, in partnership with the Legislature, invested a total of<strong>\u00a0$436 million in the most recent budget to support flood response<\/strong>\u00a0and projects to protect communities from future flooding, including and\u00a0$95 million in funding\u00a0made available this fall for projects to repair levees, enhance flood diversion and recharge capacity, and support communities impacted by record flooding this year.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what else the state is doing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Governor signed an urgency measure to expedite critical levee upgrades and speed up construction of the\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=dd93149452&amp;e=0a97a8055b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3Dafffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55%26id%3Ddd93149452%26e%3D0a97a8055b&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1703116253243000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0hsAp3Qpu3kjE2IVrq7P-m\"><strong>Pajaro River Flood Risk Management Project<\/strong><\/a><\/u>, while maintaining important environmental and water quality protections.
