CALIFORNIA\u2019S GUN SAFETY LEADERSHIP:<\/h3>\n

\"\u2714\ufe0f\"\u00a0California\u2019s gun laws are ranked #1 in the nation, according to the\u00a0Giffords Law Center<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Everytown<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\u2714\ufe0f\"\u00a0If every state followed California\u2019s gun safety policy lead,\u00a0it\u2019s estimated<\/a>\u00a0that nearly 300,000 lives would be saved over the next 10 years.<\/p>\n

\"\u2714\ufe0f\"\u00a0California has a 43% lower gun death rate than the national average and according to the\u00a0CDC<\/a>, California\u2019s gun death rate is the 44th lowest in the nation, with 8.5 gun deaths per 100,000 people \u2013 substantially lower than states like Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas.<\/p>\n

\"\u2714\ufe0f\"\u00a0California\u2019s red flag laws helped prevent at least 58 potential mass shootings since 2016, according to the\u00a0Violence Prevention Research Program<\/a>\u00a0at the University of California, Davis.<\/p>\n

\"\u2714\ufe0f\"\u00a0 California\u2019s gun homicide rates for women and children are substantially lower than the rest of the nation, according to the\u00a0California Department of Justice<\/a>. From 2018 to 2022, California\u2019s gun homicide rate for female victims was 46% below the national average \u2014 and 57% below the national average for children victims aged 14 and under.<\/p>\n

Since 2019, California has\u00a0strengthened<\/a>\u00a0its nation-leading gun safety laws by making it easier for Californians to\u00a0sue<\/a>\u00a0manufacturers of illegal assault weapons and those bringing them into our communities, allowing lawsuits against\u00a0irresponsible members<\/a>\u00a0of the gun industry, strengthening\u00a0prohibitions<\/a>\u00a0on ghost guns, and\u00a0restricting<\/a>\u00a0marketing to minors.
