Large-scale events encourage underserved communities to promote mental wellbeing, build resilience & inclusiveness<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

LOS ANGELES<\/b>\u00a0\u2014 The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) hosted two community celebrations last weekend; a Rainbow Resilience Pride event in West Hollywood and Juneteenth in South Los Angeles. Both events were supported by the\u00a0California Mental Health Services Authority<\/a>\u00a0(CalMHSA) and were an extension of LACDMH\u2019s Take Action for Mental Health, L.A. County campaign to encourage people to take action on their mental health for themselves and others year-round.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLACDMH is proud to partner with communities throughout Los Angeles County to break down barriers to mental health care and wellbeing,\u201d said LACDMH Director Dr. Lisa H. Wong. \u201cEvents such as these bring people together from all communities for food, fun, and wellness. Together, we can Take Action to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all residents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Juneteenth community event took place on June 29 at Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park in South L.A. while the Rainbow Resilience Pride event took place on June 30 at The Abbey in West Hollywood. Both events were free to attend and featured wellness activities, wellbeing resources, food, and fun for all.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLACDMH is committed to reducing mental health stigma and increasing awareness through fun community activities throughout L.A. County,\u201d said LACDMH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Curley L. Bonds. \u201cEvery diverse community has their own unique needs, and the Department is proud to provide our resources in any way we can.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to these June events, LACDMH encourages County residents in every diverse community to utilize the resources available through the Department and its partners, including the 24\/7 Help Line at (800) 854-7771, 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, iPrevail digital wellness platform, our walk-in clinics and peer resource centers, and our partnerships with many L.A.
