He found it interesting that neither candidate seemed to attempt to reach the opposing camp\u2019s supporters or appeal to undecided voters. Instead, the debate felt more like an effort to mobilize their own political bases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yi Bo, a law professor, also shared his experience of watching the debate from a hotel in Rio de Janeiro. He paid special attention to the discussion regarding China. According to his count, China was mentioned seven times during the debate. Trump highlighted his tough stance on China and criticized the Biden administration for being too soft, particularly in handling the chip industry issue. Harris, in contrast, argued that Trump\u2019s record on national security and foreign policy raised concerns, suggesting that he could be easily manipulated by foreign leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yi concluded, \u201cWhether it\u2019s Trump or Harris who wins, U.S.-China relations will continue to deteriorate. The best we can do is to try to slow down that deterioration.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Famed Chinese-American writer Zhang Ci commented on social media, likening the U.S. debate format to ancient Greek political traditions, where the most powerful individuals present their positions to the public. She expressed her anticipation for the final election outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Renowned art historian Cao Xingyuan also weighed in, praising Harris for her eloquence and polished political demeanor, while noting that Trump seemed somewhat overshadowed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jeremy, a Chinese student at Columbia University, wrote a post on Xiaohongshu titled \u201cTrump Lost Tonight,\u201d in which he opined that Harris outperformed both Biden and, to some extent, Trump. He observed that Trump, although less aggressive than in past debates, appeared on the defensive when facing Harris\u2019s attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During the debate, Harris\u2019s lead widened in the PredictIt market, and stocks related to reproductive rights and abortion saw an uptick.
