The program is now accepting applications from emerging translators of Taiwanese literature, with a deadline set for November 30, 2024 (Pacific Time).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To qualify, applicants must have published no more than one full-length translation work. The selected translator will receive mentorship from an experienced professional, with support from Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of Culture, and engage in a nine-month program starting in February 2025. Participants will also present their translated works at ALTA\u2019s annual conference, the largest literary translation event in the U.S., offering opportunities to network with translators and publishers worldwide. Translators with an interest in Taiwanese literature are encouraged to apply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The 2025 mentorship will be led by award-winning translator Jin Ling, a recipient of the PEN America Short Story Prize. Jin has translated a range of works, including the youth biography comic series <em>The Child from Qingshui<\/em> and <em>Wandering Taiwan<\/em>, a novel by Golden Tripod Award winner Yang Shuangzi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Founded in 1978, ALTA is dedicated to promoting literary translation.
