This\u00a0<em>tour de force<\/em>\u00a0program commemorates the 100<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of\u00a0<strong>Gershwin<\/strong>\u2019s iconic Jazz-Age treasure and brings together two of the most beloved works of the 20<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>century with\u00a0<strong>Debussy\u2019s\u00a0<em>La Mer<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0closing out the program. The repertoire will excite the senses, kicking off with\u00a0<strong>Mason Bates<\/strong>\u2019 motherboard-inspired\u00a0<strong><em>Sea-Blue Circuitry\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and the city sounds of\u00a0<strong><em>Rhapsody in Blue<\/em><\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>In the second half, audiences will float away on the emotional imagery of\u00a0<strong>Ravel\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><em>Une barque sur l\u2019oc\u00e9an<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><em>La Mer<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0will paint a majestic picture of the sea with a mosaic of orchestral colors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Music Director Brett Mitchell<\/strong>\u00a0will lead the orchestra hot off the heels of his October 26<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0debut conducting Mahler Symphony No. 1, which &#8220;under [his] baton&#8230; came across brilliantly in lush, orchestral Technicolor&#8221;\u00a0<em>(Classical Voice).<\/em>\u00a0Proclaimed &#8220;a phenomenon&#8221; by the\u00a0<em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>\u00a0and &#8220;one of the best pianists of his generation&#8221; by the\u00a0<em>Philadelphia Inquirer<\/em>, acclaimed pianist and recording artist\u00a0<strong>Stewart Goodyear\u00a0<\/strong>will join the orchestra for\u00a0<strong><em>Rhapsody in Blue<\/em><\/strong>, while the talented musicians of the orchestra will fill the stage to conclude the program with Debussy\u2019s impressionist masterpiece.<\/p>\n<p>The Pasadena Symphony provides a vibrant experience specially designed for the music lover, the social butterfly or a date night out.
