The only way is up for online retail in the US \u2013 as holiday season sales for 2024 hit record levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ecommerce is exploding as more and more shoppers make their purchases at the click of a button, taking full advantage of Black Friday Deals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Total ecommerce growth during the 2024 holiday season is expected to be between 8% and 9%, with online holiday sales reaching between $295.1 billion and $297.9 billion, according to the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/nrf.com\/media-center\/press-releases\/steady-sales-growth-expected-2024-holiday-season-according-nrf\">National Retail Federation.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Amazon recently<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/press.aboutamazon.com\/2024\/12\/amazons-record-breaking-black-friday-week-and-cyber-monday-deal-event-was-its-biggest-thanksgiving-holiday-shopping-event-ever\">announced<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">its \u201cbiggest ever\u201d Black Friday and Cyber Monday holiday shopping sales in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meanwhile, with a potential ban looming, TikTok Shop generated\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.tiktok.com\/en-us\/tiktok-shop-a-home-for-product-inspiration-this-holiday-season\">more than $100 million<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">in single-day sales on Black Friday \u2013 triple the amount of sales from that day last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Social commerce continues to rise, and Tik Tok revealed that the top products customers purchased included makeup, skincare, fragrances, indoor furniture, kitchen appliances, fitness items, and sporting equipment.<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-69292\" src=\"https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-300x170.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-1024x581.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-768x435.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-1536x871.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-2048x1161.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/lapost.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08616-520x295.jpg 520w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Malik Naibi (Right) (Photo by: Richard Ren\/LAPost)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Malik Naibi, the founder of the leading social media marketing agency Duke 65, explained in an exclusive interview why e-commerce is rapidly growing and steadily increasing its share of total retail sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He said: \u201cThe number one reason is that all the e-commerce platforms are putting heavy promotions on their holiday sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cFor example, we saw TikTok putting out a huge 50% off and free shipping campaign for their Black Friday sales and Amazon also put a lot of emphasis on holiday seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAnd now we have a lot more new players like Temu, like Shein, who are in the e-commerce place and are willing to spend top dollars on promoting their holiday deals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cSecondly, people&#8217;s general purchasing habits have changed after COVID and the younger generations are leaning more towards purchasing online these days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Social media platforms, such as Tik Tok, have had a significant impact on online retail in recent years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marketing expert Malik has witnessed this first-hand as his Los Angeles-based company Duke 65 facilitated $2.1 million in TikTok Shop sales for their clients in November alone this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They have collaborated with renowned brands like M&amp;M&#8217;s, helping them optimize their TikTok shop. Duke 65 has also partnered with top Amazon brands such as Dreo, EcoFlow, Jackery, Govee, and Parrot Uncle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>\u201c<\/strong>I think TikTok completely changed the game of e-commerce,\u201d said Malik. \u201cWith traditional e-commerce like Amazon, I like to call it \u2018demand-driven e-commerce\u2019 or \u2018shelf e-commerce\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cIt&#8217;s kind of like you go into the grocery store where you know what you want and you go and buy those items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cBut with TikTok, I would call it \u2018interest-driven e-commerce\u2019. This is more like going into an amusement park where don&#8217;t know what to expect \u2013 and you make a purchasing decision because you saw something that was interesting, useful, or entertaining.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cIt triggers the demand and pushes you to make the purchase. So rather than waiting for people with demand to come, they create demand using content for their customers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAnd on average, people spend over 90 minutes on TikTok daily in America. And that&#8217;s a lot of screening time. And that creates a window for people to shop without them even realizing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With record online retail sales this holiday season, and total ecommerce sales figures climbing each year, this trend will inevitably continue in the next few years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How will this change the overall landscape of shopping and what\u2019s the future for physical stores?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Malik Naibi said: \u201cI think physical stores will always have their place in retail, and they will continue to play a major role in American retail because people\u2019s consuming habits don\u2019t change overnight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cPeople still love to drive their cars to the parking lot of Costco, Target, and Walmart and enjoy the shopping experience. However, I do believe that e-commerce will continue to evolve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe major players like Amazon are making significant investments in improving logistics and the shopping experience, which will create more demand and make more people willing to do their holiday shopping online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAmazon is also expanding the categories they sell; for example, they are launching Amazon car sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cAdditionally, the new players\u2014new international players like Temu, TikTok Shop, and Shein\u2014have not yet reached their full potential.
