These measures are designed to address the urgent housing needs of those displaced by the disaster, while maintaining the County&#8217;s commitment to preventing homelessness and safeguarding housing availability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we face one of the most devastating natural disasters in Los Angeles County\u2019s history, we must act with urgency to protect and support those displaced\u2014and the Angelenos supporting them\u2014from the threat of eviction,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath<\/strong>. \u201cThis motion ensures that displaced residents have immediate access to housing, while safeguarding tenants who open their homes to others in need. We are taking essential steps to provide a foundation for the long-term recovery of impacted residents and to stabilize our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The proclamation includes the following directives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Eviction Protections for Tenants Providing Shelter:\u00a0<\/strong>Renters in unincorporated who temporarily house individuals or pets displaced by the fires are shielded from eviction based on lease technicalities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Temporary Adjustments to Short-Term Rentals:<\/strong>\u00a0Restrictions on short-term rentals have been eased to expand housing availability for fire victims. This includes permitting multiple listings, allowing the use of accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and vacation rentals, and removing the 90-night cap for unhosted stays.
