This marked the last day in a series of meetings initiated in response to governance reform directives outlined by Measure G.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During today\u2019s meeting, budget requests were presented by the following departments: Mental Health, Children and Family Services, Public Social Services, Treasurer and Tax Collector, Auditor-Controller, and the Chief Executive Office. In the 2024 elections, the passage of Measure G empowered Los Angeles County voters to approve a comprehensive set of reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in county governance. These reforms include public presentations of budget requests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cOver the last few weeks, the Board has heard from all 38 departments on their budget requests in a public setting; this has been a historic moment for Los Angeles County,\u201d said Chair Pro Tem Hilda Solis. \u201cThese meetings have provided a platform for constituents to understand how these budgets will impact services and resources available to them, and gain better insight into how I, as Supervisor for the First District, will continue championing the needs of the communities I represent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Chair Pro Tem Solis, during the several special meetings, reiterated her focus on supporting resources, community engagement, and government transparency. She shared, \u201cI remain steadfast in my commitment to strengthening resources, fostering engagement, and ensuring transparency in every aspect of our county government. We have all gained a fuller understanding of the realities of our current budget constraints, and I am mindful of the challenges posed by federal policy changes. Nonetheless, we remain dedicated to finding solutions that best serve our residents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In April, the Board of Supervisors will hold a special public meeting where the Chief Executive Office will present its recommendations for the Board\u2019s review. This process provides an important opportunity for the public to learn about the County&#8217;s financial plans and engage in the budget process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As part of Measure G, Los Angeles County has launched applications for the Governance Reform Task Force, which will oversee the implementation of Measure G\u2019s directives.
