The Superior Court of Los Angeles County will unveil a completely redesigned\u00a0My Jury Duty Portal<\/i>\u00a0on April 7, 2025, providing jurors with a more streamlined user-centric experience with the ability to register for jury duty on any device, locate courthouses and jury assembly rooms with tailored directions, and know exactly what is expected of them along each phase of service.<\/p>\n

\u201cJurors play a vital role in upholding a justice system that is fair, equitable, and just,\u201d said Presiding Judge Sergio C. Tapia II. \u201cThe Court\u2019s mission\u2014to ensure equal access to justice by resolving cases fairly, efficiently, and promptly \u2014 would not be possible without their invaluable service. Redesigning our portal to inform court users about the jury process has been a key priority. We hope the new, user-focused features will give jurors the support they need \u2014 whether on call or reporting to the courthouse.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Using the redesigned\u00a0My Jury Duty Portal<\/i>, which will be launched at\u00a0www.lacourt.org\/jury\u00a0<\/a>on April 7, prospective jurors can register for jury duty on any computer or smartphone, check-in for service, make requests to be excused and postpone or transfer service to a different courthouse with greater efficiency. Prospective jurors are also provided with reporting instructions, a checklist to prepare for their service and the option to sign-up for text or email notifications or download reminders about their service to their personal calendars.<\/p>\n

If prospective jurors are asked to report to one of the Court\u2019s 28 courthouses that assemble jury panels, they can use the portal\u2019s new features to map out the best route from their home to the courthouse, learn about nearby parking options and locate the jury assembly room inside the courthouse. The portal also provides a list of frequently asked questions with helpful answers that correspond with each stage of service.<\/p>\n

\u201cJurors are a cornerstone of the justice system and out of gratitude for jurors\u2019 time and service, the Court has strived to create a more efficient experience for jurors by providing helpful tools they can utilize from the moment they receive their summons until their jury service is complete,\u201d said Executive Officer\/Clerk of Court David W. Slayton. \u201cThe portal\u2019s new features are designed to give jurors all the information they need at their fingertips to know exactly what their responsibilities are during each phase of their jury service.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Interactive Chatbot (Beta)\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

For additional support, a new interactive chatbot (in beta) provides court users with another resource that provides personalized answers to commonly asked questions, using a dynamic question-and-answer format harnessing court-approved resources to generate responses. Integrated directly with the\u00a0My Jury Duty Portal<\/i>, the new chatbot can intelligently register court users for jury service, postpone or make requests to transfer service or provide additional answers depending on the user\u2019s preferences.<\/p>\n

As the largest trial court in the nation serving 10 million residents throughout Los Angeles County, the Court summons more than 2 million people per year, on average, to serve on its jury panels.<\/p>\n
