LOS ANGELES, CA<\/strong> \u2013 Actor, director and producer Diego Luna will host the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences\u2019 Scientific and Technical Awards presentation on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. During the evening he will present 14 achievements, which were\u00a0previously announced<\/a>\u00a0in January.<\/p>\n

Achievements receiving Scientific and Technical Awards must demonstrate a proven record of contributing significant value to the process of making motion pictures. In addition, an Academy Award of Merit (an Oscar\u00ae statuette) will be presented at the ceremony to collectively recognize \u201call the individuals who have developed and supported captioning technology, whether open or closed, for film.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luna currently stars in and executive produces the Emmy\u00ae-nominated and Peabody Award-winning series \u201cAndor,\u201d reprising his role as Cassian Andor from \u201cRogue One: A Star Wars Story.\u201d Recently, he appeared in the limited series \u201cLa M\u00e1quina,\u201d earning a Golden Globe nomination for his performance. His filmography includes such notable works as \u201cY Tu Mam\u00e1 Tambi\u00e9n,\u201d \u201cFrida\u201d and the upcoming film \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman.\u201d He has also directed several films, including \u201cCesar Chavez\u201d and \u201cMr. Pig.\u201d Luna co-founded the production company La Corriente del Golfo, which focuses on developing Mexican stories and talent.<\/p>\n
