The four Oscar\u00ae statuettes will be presented at the Academy\u2019s 16th Governors Awards event on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s Governors Awards will celebrate four legendary individuals whose extraordinary careers and commitment to our filmmaking community continue to leave a lasting impact,\u201d said Academy President Janet Yang. \u201cThe Academy\u2019s Board of Governors is honored to recognize these brilliant artists. Debbie Allen is a trailblazing choreographer and actor, whose work has captivated generations and crossed genres. Tom Cruise\u2019s incredible commitment to our filmmaking community, to the theatrical experience, and to the stunts community has inspired us all. Beloved performer Dolly Parton exemplifies the spirit of the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award through her unwavering dedication to charitable efforts. And production designer Wynn Thomas has brought some of the most enduring films to life through a visionary eye and mastery of his craft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allen\u2019s indelible impact on screen spans nearly five decades as a choreographer, actor, and producer. She choreographed the Academy Awards\u00ae ceremony seven times, as well as films including \u201cForget Paris,\u201d \u201cA Jazzman&#8217;s Blues\u201d and \u201cThe Six Triple Eight.\u201d Her producing credits include \u201cAmistad\u201d and \u201cA Star for Rose.\u201d Allen made her mark as an actress with \u201cFame,\u201d \u201cRagtime\u201d and \u201cJo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the most recognized and highest-grossing actors of all time, Cruise has been a committed advocate of the theatrical experience, and he helped to usher the industry through a challenging time during the COVID-19 pandemic. Showcasing a deep commitment to his craft \u2013 including performing all of his own stunts \u2013 his expansive body of work includes his Oscar-nominated acting roles in \u201cBorn on the Fourth of July,\u201d \u201cJerry Maguire\u201d and \u201cMagnolia,\u201d and the Oscar-nominated \u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d for which he earned a Best Picture nomination as producer. His other notable film credits include \u201cRisky Business,\u201d \u201cA Few Good Men,\u201d \u201cInterview with the Vampire,\u201d \u201cEyes Wide Shut,\u201d \u201cVanilla Sky\u201d and the \u201cMission: Impossible\u201d film series.<\/p>\n<p>Parton is an international icon whose remarkable career spans seven decades. A renowned musical artist and one of the most accomplished in history, with 49 studio albums and more than 100 million records sold worldwide, she has starred in such films as \u201cNine to Five\u201d and \u201cSteel Magnolias.\u201d She has earned two Oscar nominations in the Original Song category for \u201cNine to Five\u201d and for \u201cTravelin\u2019 Thru\u201d from \u201cTransamerica.\u201d With this Governors Award, a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, Parton will be recognized for her decades-long humanitarian efforts. She has founded various charitable and philanthropic organizations, including the Dollywood Foundation, which was created in 1988 to inspire the children of East Tennessee \u2013 her home state \u2013 to achieve educational success. Additionally, her literacy program, \u201cDolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library,\u201d launched in 1995 in honor of her father, has provided children with 285 million books. It evolved into an international movement and remains the signature program of the Dollywood Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Acclaimed production designer Thomas began his career working on Spike Lee\u2019s \u201cShe\u2019s Gotta Have It,\u201d which would be the first of several collaborations between the two.
