Jewels serves as Executive Director of Entertainment for Hamburger Mary’s and was the first drag queen to receive Long Beach Key to the City<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Los Angeles, CA (June 24, 2025)<\/strong> \u2013 This morning during the public hearing of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Janice Hahn presented an official recognition to comedian, host, drag queen and philanthropist Jewels Long Beach in celebration of Pride Month.<\/p>\n

“For over two decades,\u00a0Jewels has been a\u00a0staple,\u00a0not\u00a0just within the LGBTQ community, but within the\u00a0community as a whole,”\u00a0said Hahn.<\/strong>\u00a0“The work Jewels does every day to ensure the LGBTQ community continues to have a voice is inspiring\u00a0and we are\u00a0truly grateful\u00a0for all she does.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Jewels produces and hosts dozens of events, shows and fundraisers around Southern California but is best known for her work in the City of Long Beach, including the weekly drag brunch event at Hamburger Mary’s. Jewels serves as Executive Director of Entertainment for the Hamburger Mary\u2019s chain. The company was recognized a few days ago by\u00a0Guinness World Records as the Longest-Running Drag-Themed Restaurant in the world.<\/a><\/p>\n

“One of our huge supporters in\u00a0our LGBTQ community in the County of Los Angeles, you are\u00a0always showing up,”\u00a0said Jewels to Hahn during this morning’s presentation.<\/strong>\u00a0“It is so wonderful to have in Supervisor Hahn and honestly our\u00a0entire Board of Supervisors and the County of Los Angeles, such amazing advocates.\u00a0Now more than ever, I always\u00a0operate with a feeling that drag\u00a0is freedom.”<\/p>\n

Last year Jewels served as Mistress of Ceremonies for\u00a0Hahn’s Progress Pride flag raising event<\/a>\u00a0over the headquarters of the LA County Office of Education in the City of Downey. She has previously been honored as Grand Marshal of Long Beach Pride and in 2019 became the first drag queen to receive the Key to the City for her contributions to Long Beach by then-mayor Robert Garcia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
