The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors today\u00a0ratified<\/a>\u00a0a local emergency proclamation issued for the\u00a0Canyon Fire<\/a>, which ignited on Friday, August 7 and\u00a0has since then destroyed seven structures and scorched over 5,370 acres<\/a>\u00a0in northern Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n

\u201cRatifying this emergency proclamation ensures we can cut red tape and act with urgency,\u201d said\u00a0Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair<\/strong>\u00a0Kathryn<\/strong>\u00a0Barger<\/strong>, who represents the communities impacted by the Canyon Fire. \u201cOur focus is on supporting firefighting operations until this fire is completely contained, and ensuring our communities have the resources they need to recover.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Canyon Fire is presently 96 percent contained. The wildfire burned in difficult terrain, fueled by dry vegetation and hot weather conditions. Firefighting crews continue working around the clock to contain the blaze and protect lives, homes, and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
