LOS ANGELES (August 14, 2025)<\/strong> \u2013 Los Angeles County and City officials, community organizations and neighborhood residents gathered Thursday to celebrate the opening of the Skid Row Care Campus, a welcoming and safe space for services, connection and community. Following speeches and campus tours, the Skid Row community came together for a lively celebration and service fair.<\/p>\n

The campus, located at 442 S. Crocker Street in Los Angeles, offers a place for Skid Row residents to access hygiene care, case management, health care, harm reduction supplies and more. The campus comes out of the\u00a0Skid Row Action Plan<\/a>, a community planning initiative that expands access to interim and permanent housing, health care, harm reduction and other supportive services. The plan, developed by Skid Row community members and public, private, and non-profit organizations, seeks to address systemic racism and disinvestment in Skid Row by supporting a culturally vibrant and thriving community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Skid Row Care Campus is a powerful example of what\u2019s possible when we truly listen to people and invest in dignity, healing, and meeting individuals where they are,\u201d said Hilda Solis, Los Angeles County Chair Pro Tem and First District Supervisor. \u201cIt delivers on the core goals set by the Skid Row Action Plan, an initiative I\u2019ve proudly championed in close partnership with residents and local stakeholders. This campus centers trauma-informed care, harm reduction, access to healthcare, and real pathways to permanent housing. This is more than a service hub\u2014 it’s a clear statement that every life in Skid Row matters, and that everyone deserves safety, health, and hope.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Skid Row Care Campus, run by community organizations and staffed by people from the Skid Row neighborhood, began providing services in April 2025. The campus reflects what Skid Row residents have highlighted as the greatest needs in the community. The goals are to improve the health and wellbeing of Skid Row community members and create pathways out of homelessness.<\/p>\n

“This all-new campus is the result of deep collaboration\u2014not only across County departments, but also with trusted community organizations and the residents of Skid Row themselves,\u201d Dr. Christina Ghaly, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. \u201cBy working together, we\u2019ve created a space that integrates health, healing, and housing in a way that reflects the real needs and hopes of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
