{"id":74758,"date":"2025-08-15T09:45:21","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T16:45:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=74758"},"modified":"2025-08-15T09:45:21","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T16:45:21","slug":"trade-digital-and-sustainability-in-focus-as-senior-officials-call-for-ambition-ahead-of-leaders-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lapost.us\/?p=74758","title":{"rendered":"Trade, Digital and Sustainability in Focus as Senior Officials Call for Ambition Ahead of Leaders\u2019 Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Issued by the APEC Senior Officials\u2019 Meeting<\/em><\/p>\n<div><i>Incheon, Republic of Korea, 15 August 2025<\/i>Senior officials from across the Asia-Pacific concluded the Third APEC Senior Officials\u2019 Meeting (SOM3) in Incheon on Friday, advancing key policy work to be finalized before ministers and leaders gather in Gyeongju in October.<\/p>\n<p>Officials reviewed progress on this year&#8217;s APEC priorities \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apec.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=659cda5df05da94188f4acaae&amp;id=6ec223e2f7&amp;e=f0773073fa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/apec.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D659cda5df05da94188f4acaae%26id%3D6ec223e2f7%26e%3Df0773073fa&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1755362684865000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3iHTeWpnRLlJduE1hoYoU5\"><em>Connect, Innovate, Prosper\u00a0<\/em><\/a>\u2014 alongside Korea\u2019s 2025 host year initiatives on addressing demographic change and the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technology over the last three weeks. They also discussed strategies for digital economy integration, public health cooperation, and strengthening APEC\u2019s role as an incubator of practical, consensus-driven solutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c2025 is a big year of reviews and roadmaps, and with only less than 80 days until we meet again in Gyeongju, the clock is ticking,\u201d said Ambassador Yoon Seong-mee, Chair of the 2025 APEC Senior Officials\u2019 Meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Yoon noted that there has been eight ministerial meetings and high-level dialogue being held throughout the year with around six more upcoming within the next two months including on culture and creative indutries, energy, small and medium enterprises, health and the economy, finance and structural reform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite differences and occasional difficulties, it is encouraging that we have been able to remain ambitious, innovative, and reach consensus. This is a testament to APEC\u2019s relevance and value as an incubator of ideas \u2014 one that bridges diverging views and fosters convergence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also heard a presentation from the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), which shared its recommendations on trade, investment, sustainability, and digital transformation.
