County Residents to Stay Alert as Rainstorm Continues

Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger is urging Los Angeles County residents to remain alert now that a multi-day rainstorm has arrived in the region. Although today’s rainfall may appear light, heavier rain and rapidly changing conditions are expected in the hours ahead.

“Today’s current rainfall may not seem threatening, but I urge our residents to not discount it–we are facing some very real risks in the coming hours and days,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Storms are serious and I want every Los Angeles County resident to stay alert and stay informed. If you live in our mountain or foothill communities—or near recent burn scars like the Eaton Fire or Bridge Fire areas—be especially vigilant. These communities are more vulnerable to flooding and dangerous debris flows. Preparation now can save lives later.”

To support a coordinated Countywide response, the Los Angeles County Emergency Operations Center is now activated and will remain active for the duration of the storm. This step ensures that County departments can communicate efficiently, mobilize resources quickly, and respond effectively to any large-scale emergency that may develop.

Residents are urged to follow weather updates closely, remain aware of their surroundings, and take any directive from emergency officials seriously.

If authorities issue an evacuation order, individuals should leave immediately without waiting for conditions to worsen.
