Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger today announced the reopening of the Lincoln Avenue Bridge in Altadena.<\/p>\n
The bridge–which connects West Altadena Drive and West Palm Street–has been closed since May of this year, following fire-related safety concerns originating from the Eaton Fire. It had been placed under a seven-ton load restriction after the fire, when inspections uncovered new cracking, delamination, and spalling at both ends of the arch.<\/p>\n
“I am pleased to see our community’s bridge reopened,” said\u00a0Supervisor Kathryn Barger<\/strong>. “Lincoln Avenue Bridge is key connector along the Lincoln Avenue corridor. Reopening it means Altadena residents will have easier access to Loma Alta Park and nearby neighborhoods. It’s a big deal.”<\/p>\n Public Works has now finished constructing a temporary bridge that restores full through access. According to Public Works, crews began work at the start of August.<\/p>\n Supervisor Barger also commended Los Angeles County Public Works for its rapid, coordinated action: \u201cI’m glad Public Works moved this emergency project along as quickly as possible,” Supervisor Barger added. “By opening Lincoln Avenue Bridge, we ensure that residents, first responders, and visitors can travel safely through the corridor as the holidays begin.\u201d<\/p>\n Looking ahead, Public Works will begin working on the permanent bridge. The long-term replacement will undergo additional community engagement and outreach to ensure the new structure meets local needs.<\/p>\n
