The Artesia Pioneers are Volleyball Division 8 Champs after first-ever appearance in finals<\/em><\/h4>\n

Los Angeles, CA<\/strong> — This morning, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn\u00a0honored the Artesia High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Team<\/a>\u00a0at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration for making school history and earning the title of CIF-Southern Section Division 8 Volleyball Champions.\u00a0During\u00a0the\u00a0finals,\u00a0Artesia\u00a0was the only school to achieve a “three-set sweep,” winning\u00a0three consecutive sets\u00a0against their opponent\u00a0to seal their victory.<\/p>\n

“I always love honoring extraordinary student athletes who give the best of themselves not only in the classroom but on the court as well.\u00a0I particularly love it when our\u00a0girls’ sports teams really excel, as this one has,”<\/strong>\u00a0said Hahn, who wore red and black, the school’s official colors.\u00a0“The Artesia girls volleyball team give us great bragging rights. They’ve made us all very proud.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hahn presented each player with a certificate of recognition and presented the team’s Head Coach\u00a0Francisco Serrano and Coaches Jose and Juan Serrano<\/span>\u00a0with official County scrolls. They were joined by\u00a0Artesia High principal Sergio Garcia, and\u00a0representatives from the ABC Unified School District.<\/p>\n

“We face teams that were bigger,\u00a0faster, more recognized but we\u00a0never let it define us.\u00a0Every practice, every match we\u00a0came hungry, determined and\u00a0fighting for every point,”\u00a0<\/strong>said the\u00a0team\u2019s captain,\u00a0Djulianne\u00a0Goze, during today’s presentation. Goes was also\u00a0named\u00a0the\u00a0CIF Division 8 Player of the Year.\u00a0“This championship was a historic\u00a0moment for Artesia, the first\u00a0CIF title for our volleyball\u00a0program ever, and being a part\u00a0of that moment means everything\u00a0to us.\u00a0It is proof that our belief and\u00a0commitment can turn dreams into\u00a0reality.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
