According to PG&amp;E, crews investigated the cause of the outage and initially estimated restoration by 8:15 p.m. Power ultimately restored about an hour after the outage began, at approximately 6:57 p.m.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPower outages are difficult for our neighbors, especially families, seniors, and small businesses who depend on reliable service,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Supervisor Alan Wong<\/strong>. \u201cWhen the outage occurred, multiple constituents contacted my office immediately, and we reached out to PG&amp;E to get clarity before any formal notice was provided. Learning about an outage from residents rather than directly from the utility is a serious concern.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supervisor Alan Wong noted that this incident highlights the same communication gaps his office formally raised in a December 11 letter to PG&amp;E, which called for more timely and proactive notification to residents, and businesses during power outages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is not the first time we\u2019ve raised this issue,\u201d\u00a0<strong>Supervisor Alan Wong<\/strong>\u00a0said. \u201cTimely communication is not optional. It\u2019s essential for public safety, community trust, and minimizing harm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Local small businesses experienced immediate impacts due to their reliance on electricity to operate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe rely heavily on online orders and digital devices for customers to place orders,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Simon Kuang, owner of Foam Tea House &amp; Cafe on Taraval Street<\/strong>. \u201cBecause the estimated restoration time was over two hours, we had to cancel all existing orders through our to-go apps and online platforms. We\u2019re hoping customers will place their orders again once power is restored.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many neighborhood restaurants and cafes have shifted to QR-code menus, app-based ordering systems, and digital point-of-sale platforms.
