Samples\u00a0of products\u00a0collected from retail grocery stores tested positive for concerning levels of thallium in multiple product varieties.<\/p>\n<p>According to CDPH\u2019s May 19 press release,\u00a0the manufacturer had been notified of the elevated thallium levels\u00a0but\u00a0had\u00a0not\u00a0<wbr \/>voluntarily\u00a0recalled\u00a0the products\u00a0at that time.<\/p>\n<p>The products are distributed by Snack Right Super Foods, Inc., and Brad\u2019s Raw Chips, LLC, and are sold at major retailers in Los Angeles County and across California.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>The following products tested positive for elevated thallium levels:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Crunchy Kale Original<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Crunchy Kale Vampire Killer<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Balsamic Salad Snack<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Ranch Salad Snack<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Crunchy Kale Cheeze It Up<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Crunchy Kale Nacho<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Crunchy Kale Radical Ranch<\/li>\n<li>Brad\u2019s Veggie Chips Kale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">Consumers are urged not to consume any Brad\u2019s brand kale products due to the elevated levels of thallium detected across multiple tested lots.<\/p>\n<p>The products are distributed from Pennsylvania and labeled with ingredients identified as \u201cProduct of Mexico.\u201d\u00a0As part of an ongoing investigation, CDPH\u00a0is coordinating with the United States Food and Drug Administration\u00a0(FDA)\u00a0and Pennsylvania state officials.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>What Consumers and Retailers Should Do\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nConsumers should not eat the listed Brad\u2019s Plant Based products. Products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase to request a refund.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">\nRetailers are advised to\u00a0immediately\u00a0remove these products from store shelves and\u00a0discontinue\u00a0sales to consumers.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>What is thallium?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThallium is a naturally occurring trace metal that may be found in soil. People can be exposed through consumption of fruits and vegetables grown in contaminated soil.
