ALHAMBRA, CA \u2013\u00a0Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra)\u00a0<\/strong>announced that several of his priority bills have successfully passed the Assembly and now advance to the California State Senate for consideration.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud that my legislative bill package reflects a commitment to expanding opportunities for students, workers, and families across California,\u201d said\u00a0Assemblymember Mike Fong<\/strong>. \u201cTogether, they represent an approach to strengthening communities and ensuring Californians have the resources needed to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the bills moving forward are:<\/p>\n

AB 2374 \u2013 AANHPI Serving Institution Designation<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

AB 2374 establishes a state-level designation for Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANHPI-Serving Institutions) to recognize public and private postsecondary institutions that demonstrate a commitment to supporting the success of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students.<\/p>\n

AB 2466 \u2013 Strong Workforce Program<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

AB 2466 expands paid work-based learning opportunities that help students gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers in high-demand industries.<\/p>\n

\n

AB 1871 \u2013 Expanding Dual Enrollment Opportunities<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

AB 1871 reforms the College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Program by removing barriers to participation and expanding access for students to earn college credit while still in high school.<\/p>\n

AB 2329 \u2013 Caltrans 710 Housing Properties<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

AB 2329 updates procedures governing the sale of surplus residential properties within the State Route 710 corridor and establishes a process for the City of South Pasadena to offer surplus homes to current tenants, helping provide greater housing stability for residents.<\/p>\n

Assemblymember Fong<\/strong>\u00a0will continue advocating for policy that expand educational opportunities, strengthen California\u2019s workforce, support housing stability, and create pathways to success for communities throughout the state.<\/p>\n
