California workers are powering the industries shaping the future of the national economy,\u201d\u00a0<strong>said\u00a0<\/strong><strong>California Labor Secretary Stewart Knox<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">A resilient economy amid slower national growth<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While national job growth slowed considerably in early 2026, California continued to outpace the nation in year-over-year payroll job growth.<\/p>\n<p>Newly released Employment Development Department data shows<a href=\"https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/flYkEnR23Mk?e=0a97a8055b&amp;c2id=30ddd2037fb0970522fa35d4edd09dde\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/us.list-manage.com\/flYkEnR23Mk?e%3D0a97a8055b%26c2id%3D30ddd2037fb0970522fa35d4edd09dde&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1781059795278000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2sF9ihk0ssOpXNgTecMQvm\">\u00a0California added 97,200 jobs since the start of 2026, an average of 24,300 jobs per month<\/a>\u00a0through April. The state\u2019s economy continues to be powered by major employment sectors, including technology, health care, logistics, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p>Even as national job growth slowed in early 2026, California continued to lead the nation in both total job gains and year-over-year payroll growth.
