Solis today highlighted a series of infrastructure, housing, and economic development projects in East Los Angeles aimed at improving public safety, supporting small businesses, expanding housing access, and enhancing public spaces.<\/p>\n<p>The projects include the 1st and Rowan Fa\u00e7ade Improvements Project, the East Los Angeles Community Monuments renovation, the East Los Angeles Civic Center Playground Refurbishment Project, and the Calvary Cemetery Pedestrian Path Project along Downey Road. Collectively, the projects represent more than $22 million in public funding and reflect ongoing efforts to improve neighborhoods and commercial corridors in East Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEast Los Angeles is a community with a strong history and identity, and during my tenure representing this region, I have worked to deliver investments that reflect its needs and its future,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Board Chair Solis.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cWe are improving public spaces, strengthening commercial corridors, and expanding access to safer, more welcoming neighborhoods for families. These efforts go beyond individual projects. (Photo credit: Diandra Jay)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The 1st Street and Rowan Avenue Fa\u00e7ade Improvements Project is a $1.8 million effort to revitalize a key business corridor and support local entrepreneurs. The project includes upgrades to multiple storefronts, coordinated fa\u00e7ade improvements across six businesses, and accessibility enhancements aimed at creating a more cohesive commercial district.<\/p>\n<p>The corridor has also seen improvements including new bus shelters, upgraded lighting, and safer pedestrian access. The monuments serve as gateways into the community and reflect the history and identity of East Los Angeles, including City Terrace. (Photo credit: Diandra Jay)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The East Los Angeles Civic Center Playground Refurbishment Project is a $4 million upgrade to a heavily used public space for families and children.
