SACRAMENTO\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0Governor Gavin Newsom today announced his office filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking records from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) related to President Donald Trump’s politically motivated investigation into the Governor and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom. The investigation, which Governor Newsom\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0earlier today, was ordered by President Trump after publicly calling for Newsom’s arrest.<\/p>\n

The FOIA request, which is available\u00a0here<\/a>, seeks communications involving top Justice Department officials, including emails, text messages, memoranda, and Signal messages containing references to Governor Newsom or the First Partner.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s lawlessness<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Trump\u2019s DOJ is looking in the wrong place for a crime. While the DOJ searches for a crime that does not exist, the President is running an open-air corruption market out of the White House and openly profiting from the presidency. After federal investigators failed to uncover evidence of wrongdoing involving Governor Newsom, the investigation has expanded to include inquiries involving First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and individuals associated with the Governor and his family.<\/p>\n

Who knew what \u2014 and when<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The FOIA request seeks records from January 20, 2025, to the present involving senior Justice Department leadership, including former Attorney General Pam Bondi, former Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, and former Deputy Attorney General and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.<\/p>\n
