Decisions about\u00a0maintaining\u00a0and improving these systems are made through long-term planning, and SCAG\u00a0seeks\u00a0public input on two important updates: the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/scag.ca.gov\/2027-ftip\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/scag.ca.gov\/2027-ftip&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1783478809879000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2bOFBPPxJnTmeTpCTvm9VK\"><u>Draft 2027 Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP)<\/u><\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/scag.ca.gov\/connect-socal-2024\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/scag.ca.gov\/connect-socal-2024&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1783478809879000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2t-kbzM77QE17EUGCkKlMw\"><u>Connect SoCal 2024\u00a0Draft\u00a0Amendment 2<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together, these plans outline how transportation projects across Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties move from planning to construction. They include projects designed to reduce traffic, improve transit, make walking and biking safer, support the economy, and expand travel options for everyone.\u00a0<u>[JD1]<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Draft 2027 FTIP includes approximately 1,836 projects and\u00a0$48.5 billion\u00a0in investments over the next several years. While technical in nature, these investments have real impacts on daily life, helping people\u00a0access\u00a0work and school more easily, improving safety, and modernizing transportation systems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scag.ca.gov\/connect-socal\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/scag.ca.gov\/connect-socal&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1783478809879000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1MGOz-k_wWEd0lxDmxzwzh\"><u>Connect SoCal<\/u><\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0the region\u2019s long-range plan, setting a vision for how communities will grow and people will travel in the future.\u00a0Draft\u00a0Amendment 2 updates the plan to reflect changes in project details, such as costs, timelines, and funding, so that key projects can continue moving forward.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Public input is an important\u00a0part of this process. Feedback from\u00a0community members,\u00a0stakeholders, and\u00a0organizations ensure that transportation investments reflect local needs and priorities and improve the quality of life across Southern California.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The public comment period will run from July 6 through Aug.\u00a04.
