Thai ex-Prime Minister Yingla has assumed the post of legal representative and chairman of Guangdong Shantou International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shantou Container Terminal) in December 2018.

Shantou Container Terminal was established in 1994 with a registered capital of US$88 million. At present, shareholders and investment information still shows that (Hong Kong) Hutchison Port Shantou Co., Ltd. is the major shareholder, accounting for 70%, Shantou Merchants Bureau Port Co., Ltd. accounts for 30%, the latter is a joint venture between China Merchants Port Development (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. and Shantou State-owned Assets Commission.

However, according to the industry and commerce change information, on December 12, 2018, the legal representative of Shantou Container Terminal was changed from Lindaqi to Yingluck Shinawatra. Yingluck Shinawatra is the English name of former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Shantou Port is one of the 25 major national ports along the coast of China and one of the five major hub ports in Guangdong Province. Shantou Port has seven ports, with cargo throughput reaching about 50 million tons and container throughput reaching about 1.3 million TEU, accounting for 55% and 99% of the total of the three ports in eastern Guangdong, respectively. Shantou Port is one of the few ports with over one million standard boxes outside the coastal economic centers of the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Bay.

Shantou Container Terminal is located in Zhuchi Port, Shantou Special Economic Zone, Guangdong Province. It is one hundred and eighty-seven nautical miles northeast of Hong Kong and two hundred and fourteen nautical miles west of Taiwan. In 1993, Hong Kong International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. (HIT), a subsidiary of Li Jiacheng Hutchison Port Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Hutchison Port), and Shantou Port Authority jointly established Shantou International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. as the earliest professional container terminal in Shantou Port.

At present, the official website of Shantou International Container Terminal Co., Ltd. still shows that the company is a member of Heji Port Group Co., Ltd.
