“AACYF Top 30 under 30” list releases, Class of 2020

“AACYF Top 30 under 30” 2020 list was released by the All America Chinese Youth Federation, LAPOST, Chinese American Institute for Public Diplomacy in Los Angeles on March 18, 2020.

There are 7 categories this year, 30 recipients were  selected from about 900 candidates. AACYF Top 30 under 30 is the only list selecting from Chinese American and Chinese students in the states, and it’s recognized as the most influential and credible selection for Chinese American start-ups.

According to organizer: they are most important young entrepreneurs, creative leaders and brightest stars for our Chinese communities’ future.

Fashion, Sport, Media:(5)

Green Xia, considered as the “Chinese King of Sneakers” in America, is the co-founder of the largest sneaker consignment store in the U.S., Solestage, and the co-founder of the first Chinses streetwear store in the U.S., Shine Marketplace.  Founded in Los Angeles in 2012, Solestage is the largest sneaker consignment store in the U.S. With four stores globally, including Fairfax in Los Angeles, Irvine, SoHo in New York, and Sanlitun in Beijing, Solestage has no plans of slowing down as three more stores are to be opened in 2020 in China. Solestage is aiming to create a new space for streetwear and pop culture to develop in. With a strong establishment in the streetwear market and a strong connection to the Chinese streetwear scene, Solestage proudly claims itself as the ambassador of streetwear culture between China and the U.S.

Shine Marketplace is a platform that Green established to help Chinese streetwear get recognition on a global scale. It is the first Chinese streetwear store in the U.S. Using its almost-ten-year retail experience, abundant resources, and connections, Shine Marketplace is able to contribute to streetwear culture by creating a new wave of style by introducing Chinese streetwear to the U.S. It is not a traditional retail store, but instead an incubator that promotes a “shine” lifestyle that is young and unique by including fashion, art and lifestyle.

Michael Ou. I’m from pengjiang district, jiangmen city, guangdong province. I started playing basketball at the age of 13, when choosing the sports school, start from dongguan basketball school, from 13 to 16 years old from one meter seven long to, in the meantime, on behalf of the school participated in the national men’s basketball competition U14, leave, under-16 and under-17, obtained the excellent result, after two years of the national championship, and leave the under-16 under-17 national second, for two consecutive years conference player of the school, the most hard, the best player. To have the opportunity to get a scholarship to the American high school, in high school player of the three years in a row in the state, the height from one meter long men to two meters or so, after graduating from high school to choose the full scholarship in California state university, northridge, was named the school’s men’s basketball team, due to my height and skills advantage, become the center school team main force player. He became one of the few asians to participate in the highest level of the American college league, with excellent performance in the NACC Division 1 and ESPN report. Now a sophomore, my goal is relatively high, usually hard training, I hope one day to enter the NBA for the glory of the country.

Yongjian Huang (Tomy), with more than 10 years of experience in fashion industry.  Haute couture designer, pattern-maker, founder of the luxury street wear brand 212 ° FUN. Graduated from ESMOD Beijing advanced fashion design institute in 2011, and came to Los Angeles for further study in 2014. In 2016, he appeared at the DEBUT Fashion Show of FIDM, becoming one of the few Chinese designers on the stage. Disney “Frozen 2” animation official collaboration designer. He has designed and made clothes for famous Chinese and American celebrities, such as Xin Jin and James Charles. Currently, he is a professor of pattern making at Los Angeles FIDM fashion design institute. He is also the first Chinese fashion design professor. He is a promoter in the Chinese and American fashion circles. Committed to promoting the cultural communication of fashion education, hope to help inspire more fashion design talent.

Jiacheng Liu (Roman), the Founder of JC Sports. Now the General Manage of CAA China Basketball—one of the best sports and entertainment agencies in the world. Graduated from Boston University. Participated in the Harvard Business School EMBA program “Business of Entertainment, Media and Sports” taught by the well-respected HBS Professor Anita Elberse. Roman’s main focus is on athlete representation and marketing. As the most talked about young agent in Chinese basketball, Roman represents over ten athletes. He has already built many well known cases in the sports marketing and endorsements field.

Jiacheng (Jesse)  Wang, 24 years old, was born in Ningbo, China. Jiacheng Wang graduated from Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business majoring in Public Accounting. In May, 2018, Jiacheng Wang founded LuggEasy with his partner. Jiacheng Wang is currently the COO of LuggEasy. LuggEasy empowers international travelers to experience the world with plenty of freedoms. Partnering with the world-leading courier delivery services companies such as FedEx, SF-Express & UPS, LuggEasy concentrates on providing affordable, reliable and easy to use international luggage shipping services. It has become one of the leading brands in luggage shipping industry in the US. In 2019, Jiacheng Wang, as the co-founder of AdinEasy, established an advertising and branding company that concentrates on helping organizations promote brand image and business value.

Xu Liu (https://www.xliu.net/) is an incoming Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University. She is also the co-founder and Chief Product Officer for Greemonia, a start-up aims at harnessing sunlight to produce green ammonia. In 2020, Xu was selected into the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), an initiative by President Bill Clinton, and was also invited to attend CGI U’s annual meeting at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Xu was named as a Local Pathways Fellow by the UN SDSN–Youth (2020-2021), and she advanced into the final round for the on-going German Chancellor Scholarship Program, an initiative by the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation. She was also chosen as a Commencement Banner Bearer at Cornell’s 152nd Commencement Ceremony (2020). In 2019, Xu was named as a BP Advancing Energy Scholar (30 in the world) to attend the One Young World Summit in London, UK.

Rui (Anny) Hua graduated from the Johns Hopkins University, Master of Science in Finance in 2018. She is founder and CEO of Shenzhen Huajia Biomedical Intelligence.During university, Anny has won the second prize twice in the national college students’ e-commerce “innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship” challenge competition. In 2015, she started up Rise Group Internship education company in Hong Kong. In addition, she actively participated in public welfare undertakings, supported education as an international volunteer in Africa.Established in 2019, Huajia Biomedical Intelligence is an innovative biomedical algorithm company(www.huajiabio.com). The company focuses on research and development of cancer prognosis algorithms, new drugs and therapies, and provides scientific research services for hospitals, scientific research institutions, pharmaceutical enterprises and biotechnology companies.

Rui Cui is an award-winning film writer, director and producer, as well as the founder/CEO of VIVA Entertainment. Rui received his MFA in Film Directing from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where Rui was also the recipient of the Pierre and Marry Cossette Scholarship for Cinematic Arts, as well as the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant. Most recently, Rui served as co-executive producer on Lionsgate’s World War II epic Midway directed by Roland Emmerich. The movie has collected $125million in box office revenue worldwide. Before that, Rui has also participated in Hollywood productions including Jurrasic World, Furious 7 , Mad Max: Fury Road, Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation and more.

Last year, one of Rui’s producing efforts, Spring Flower, received Best Picture at the 45thStudent Oscars. Rui was also the winner of the New Director Competition held by Banana Entertainment in Shanghai, China, where 16 winners were chosen from 812 candidates. Rui’s past films include To Pimp a ButterflyFree ChoiceTristaFather Knows BestAfter RachelLast Dance, and more. Many of them have been distributed internationally; some of them have been selected and won awards at acclaimed film festivals across the world. His directorial graduate thesis film, To Pimp a Butterfly, supervised by Academy Awards winner – director/producer Mark Jonathan Harris, starred acclaimed Asian-American actress Bai Ling. The film won Rui “Best Director” awards at the Global Shorts International Film Festival, the China-US Film Festival of Young Cinema, and the Indie Film Awards. Rui’s another directorial piece Free Choice, was the winner of “Audience Choice Award” at the Hollyshorts Festival, and the “Water-Drop Award” granted by the China Science Fiction Association.

Jiannan Wu, born in 1990 in Dalian, China, is a young artist specializing in sculpture. He is Elected Member of American National Sculpture Society, member of American Medallic Sculpture Association, and founder of Art American China Project. Jiannan Wu received his BFA Degree in Sculpture from China Academy of Art and his MFA Degree in Sculpture from New York Academy of Art. Jiannan Wu is the recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant. He is also the winner of 2017 Dexter Jones Award presented by American National Sculpture Society, winner of MFA National Competition, winner of Compleat Sculptor Award 2016, etc.. He was selected for Terra Foundation Residency in Giverny France 2015 and ABC Stone Carrara Merit Award Residency in Italy 2016. In 2018, Jiannan Wu successfully held his solo exhibition in New York. His works have also been displayed on numerous exhibitions at renowned venues such as Accesso Gallery in Italy, Gallery Poulsen and Art Herning in Denmark, the Sotheby’s, Art Miami, and Art New York in America, Chongqing Contemporary Art Museum in China, etc. Jiannan Wu was interviewed by  China Central Television international channel (CCTV) and American SinoVision. His works and art achievements have been published on The New York Times, The China Press, People’s Daily China, The Paper, Hi-Fructose Magazine, T(here) Magazine, Artrepreneur, etc. As the founder of Art America China Project, Jiannan Wu is devoting himself to promoting the art and culture communication between America and China. He successfully curated two Sino-American art exhibitions in Beijing and Dalian in 2018.

QinYa (Jenny) Guo is a co-founder of LumiereVR, which is dedicated to using Virtual Reality (VR) to bridge the gaps between tech, arts, and design. Ms. Guo is an award-winning cross-border creative producer, XR arts Collector, and tech entrepreneur. She has been named on Forbes 30 under 30 for Asia in 2018 and was voted for the top 5 women in XR in China.
Backed by HTC Vive X and TechStars, her company LumiereVR won the top 10 VR projects in China. The VR projects she had worked on have also won multiple awards. She has worked on producing and distributing multiple VR art installations, including artist Rachel Maclean’s I’m Terribly Sorry with KWM Art Center and Wang Xin’s Maybe it’s Time to Refresh the Art World a Little Bit at k11 art mall in Hong Kong. Her latest producing work Living Distance with artist Xin Liu has been selected into multiple renowned film festivals, including Sundance, SXSW, Beijing Film Festival, and it’s the first Chinese immersive project that Sundance has taken on.
Ms. Guo has spoken at multiple conferences, including Harvard Graduate School of Design, J.P Morgan, VREdEx, TEDxBohaibay, Christie’s, and Wharton School of Business.

Technology, Manufacture, Consumer Tech (4): 

Jesse Lyu born in Xi’an, China is a serial entrepreneur, listed on Forbes 30 Under 30 in both Asia and China. He graduated from the Liverpool University, majoring in Financial Mathematics.

Lyu founded Raven Tech in May 2014. In 2017, Raven Tech was acquired by Baidu, China’s biggest search engine, as the leading component of their smart hardware division, making Lyu the head of Baidu’s Intelligent Hardware Unit and reported to COO Lu Qi directly. At the Baidu 2017 Annual conference, Lyu released three smart hardware – raven H, raven R and raven Q. raven H was awarded the Best Gadgets 2018 CES from Wired and The Wall Street Journal; raven R received IF Design Award.

In 2018, Lyu formed a new company—rct studio. The Los Angeles-based creative studio and new kind of entertainment company, also graduated from Y Combinator, focus on building next-generation AI powered entertainment experience. Company was listed the favourite startup by Tech Crunch and secured $10 million for Series A within three days after YC Demo day, valuing $52 million.

In 2020, rct’s studio CEO Jesse join the board of Teenage engineering, Teenage Engineering, beginning a strategic partnership between the two companies. Jesse is also honoured to be joining fashion artist, entrepreneur Virgil Abloh and singer, producer Justin Vernon as partners in Teenage Engineering.

Haozhe (Henry) Zhao, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of WeGiG. Henry graduated from the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, major in Finance, and minor in Economics and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. He is the 12th Executive Business Administration student of Hejun Business School with a full scholarship during his undergraduate studies. He has been admitted to the University of Cambridge Judge Business School for the Master of Finance program. He co-founded China’s first youth entrepreneurship incubator, Reiz Incubator. He has lots of experiences of the internship in lots of different fields: Goldman Sachs, Citic Securities, NIO Automobile and Silicon Valley’s famous early venture capital fund–Amino Capital.

Robert is a three-time entrepreneur. He sold his first company for $300,000 while he studied at the University of Southern California. He is a Forbes Under 30 Scholar and Global Shaker’s Sustainable Fashion Innovator 2019. He is also an Entrepreneur Hall of Fame at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. His startup, Mi Terro, is a new material technology company that turns milk waste into soft, sustainable, and affordable fibers. Our fibers can apply to apparel, medical appliances, bedding linen, and packaging film. Through their patent-pending technology, they created the world’s first apparel line made from milk waste. Their goal is replacing petroleum-based materials with protein-based materials made from food waste.

Otto Chang, who holds a master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, is the co-founder of eBATTERY Inc. & O BOTTLE Inc. and has dedicated his career to solving current energy issues that affect the environment. He used to work on developing electric-vehicle battery models that can predict voltage under limited mean squared error using artificial neural networks, which improved performance by lowering the maximum voltage error by 24x and the average voltage error by 200x, at Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL). This helped him to found eBATTERY Inc..

Social Entrepreneurs(2 

Zinan Chen (Crysti) first came to the U.S. at the age of 16, she followed her deep passion in philanthropy and co-founded the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, World Youth Value Society. After 10 years of operation, the organization has established 17 university chapters worldwide, connected more than 1,500 young leaders with innovative volunteer opportunities in China, Vietnam, and Kenya, focusing on the mission to promote education access and gender equality in rural, underprivileged areas. Lives of vulnerable groups have been improved and Crysti was recognized as Mary Gates Leadership Scholar and Next-gen Leader of the Pacific Forum. Crysti graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Political Economy and is finishing her M.S.Ed. in the University of Pennsylvania. She is thrilled to be selected among 4,700 candidates to join the prestigious Tsinghua University Schwarzman Scholars program in the coming fall, where she believes she can further practice and implement meaningful social and environmental programs in advocate for more significant impact.

Yiheng Zhao, Chairman of Fixedstar Public Welfare, is currently studying at Oregon State University. July 2019, the Chinese Student Associations across from more than forty universities in the United States jointly organized the “Dream Project” charity event to support children in poverty-stricken mountainous areas fulfilling their aspirations.  September 2019, he held the “Xingyi Scholarship” event to lead students who returned from their studies in different countries to support education in the mountainous areas and share the world’s multiculturalism with the children. January 2020, he organized the ” galaxy Hubei” project, united Chinese student associations in many American universities with local Chinese organizations to fundraised and purchased medical supplies. The medical supplies were delivered to relevant hospitals in severe epidemic areas in Hubei and are used to solve the shortage of epidemic prevention materials in Hubei.

Qiuying (Laura) Liu is the president of Stone Street Group and CEO of WZ Phillips. With extensive experiences in equity research and business consultation, Laura founded Stone Street Group in 2017, a financial services company headquartered in New York; the company focuses on capital market advisory, M&A advisory, roadshows, and research and publications. WZ Phillips is a real estate investment and development company headquartered in California. The company focuses on commercial, multifamily rental and for-sale residential projects; for-sale residential developments may include condominiums, single-family attached homes as well as detached housing. Laura graduated from University of Southern California Marshall Business School.

Sanqiang Tang, graduated from University of California, Irvine. Serial entrepreneur. Early stage investor. Sanqiang Tang found StudyHigh Education in 2017, the first education company that focuses on post study abroad service in California. StudyHigh Education provides tutoring services, academic consultants, and application service to over 10,000 international students. Further, he founded Vernacular English in 2019. Vernacular English cooperates with education companies and training centers in China. This service provides Chinese based education companies and centers with online English speaking classes. Vernacular English raised millions in Venture Capital from Silicon Valley since its founding in 2019.

He is also an early stage investor. He set up his own fund Igen Fusion Capital in 2018, which has secured multi-million dollar capital two successful years later. The portfolios of Igen Fusion Capital are: Sliver TV, a VR Esports live streaming platforms. Mala Laoshi, a Chinese K12 online education brand and Suntisfy, a cross-border E- commerce brand. Another notable platform is LGD Gaming, a professional Chinese Esports organization that continues to advance the gaming industry through competitive play.

Gaohao Liu is a junior student studying at New York University. He has worked in several giant financial institutions before including China Securities Co., Ltd, Citibank, CCB International (Holdings) Limited. Meanwhile, he finds his interest in private equity especially in early-stage startups with fast growing trend. He joined HONGTAI APLUS as a limited partner and Plus Venture Capital as a co-founding partner. HONGTAI APLUS is one of the top tier venture capitals in China. He has helped HONGTAI APLS’s regional angel fund to work closely with Chengdu incubators to seek excellent high-potential startups while also actively work on post-investment management. Plus Venture is an RMB venture capital founded in 2017. Its current AUM is over 50million. Winston Sun has been residing in the US since 2009, soon he discovered his passion for business and started his adventure in investment and finance-related industries, ranging from real estate investment, consulting, securities and investment banking. Winston has pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and yet deferred his admission to the Master’s degree in Financial Management from Boston University. His past work experience from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and China Merchant Securities Co. has led Winston to jump into the business world at his earliest timing. He co-founded UniWill Ventures in 2017 and has been managing the VC fund headquarter office in the Bay Area, California. Winston strives to detect valuable early-stage startups and take them to the next funding round faster and more efficiently. Combined with his knowledge in Private Equity, secondary markets, and commercial banking, Winston has been a resourceful advisor to UniWill Venture’s portfolio companies and a respected mentor to many young entrepreneurs. Ms. Liyang Xu is the founder of Cheng-wu, a new type of social e-commerce platform. Cheng-wu enables users to do live braodcasting, share photos and video clips, and attach simultaneously the commercial information and purchase links of products that shown up in the photo or video, so that they can be rewarded with commissions systematically if other users buy these products through links in the photo or video. Basicaly, there are hundreds of thousands of people generating and sharing vivid contents every day, but commercial value of these contents are not realized. Now Cheng-wu enpowers users to commercialize these “user- generated- contents” and be repaid. By enpowring so, Cheng-wu can also help merchants promote their goods more accurately and cost-effectively. Cheng-wu has raised funds from Well-known venture capitals, and was honoured as “National High-tech Enterprise” in 2019.
Ms. Xu’s previous working experience includes working as Research Assitant to Dr. Richard Cooper (Maurits C. Boas Professor of International Economics at Harvard University, Secretary of State, chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston) in Economics Department of Harvard University, as Partner and Investor of DIH Technology Corporation. Ms. Xu received a Master’s Degree from Columbia University and was entitled as Forbes China 30 under 30 in 2018.

Ryan Fan graduated from Cornell University with a master’s degree in Information Science and Data Analytics, prior to this he held double degrees from the University of Washington in Economics and Informatics. His earlier career path included working as product manager for Amazon, and product designer for Alibaba Group. Soon he discovered that Chinese-grown coffee is extremely underrepresented even in the heart of the coffee capital, Seattle. Ryan then determined to devote his time and effort to promote the world’s 7th largest coffee production origin and make Yunnan Coffee accessible to international coffee lovers and businesses through e-commerce. He founded YCE America as the one-stop online site to purchase and auction premium quality Chinese coffee beans, he innovatively adopted the coffee price insurance as of in financial exchange transactions to meet farmers’ fair-trade expectations. Ryan then represented Yunnan Specialty Arabica Coffee in the world’s largest coffee expos, trade shows, and e-commerce forums to promote the coffee origin, high-quality Chinese coffee beans, and its distinct and delicious taste notes. In late 2019, Ryan launched the first-ever consumer packaged coffee beverage using top-graded Chinese coffee beans in the US market and named it Yunnan Nitro Cold Brew. This product sold out almost instantly on its ecommerce site after launch and received excellent reviews from the Seattle coffee community.

Tao Tang, the founder of Orrchi Technology co., Ltd and the serial entrepreneur, graduated from Bowling Green State University, Ohio, with dual master’s degrees in economics and public. In 2017, he returned to China and created a career platform for middle school students in “Small Carton Education”. In 2019, he was selected as “Phoenix College”, an outstanding overseas student of the Chaoyang District Committee of Beijing Municipality, and won the OTEC Overseas Talent Competition Start-up Fund. Orrchi Technology was established in mid-2019, which is a one-stop service solution company for the research and development of tradable products. It is committed to using technology to improve the supply chain production efficiency and promote cross-cultural innovation. The company’s cross-border creative products will be launched in mid-2020. Yuwei Zhang, graduated from  Rotman Commerce in University of Toronto with the first degree. In 2014, he founded  Easy Group in Toronto, Canada. Easy Group focuses on overseas college students and provides academic tutoring courses for university students. It also covers professional service systems such as admission planning, career development consulting and graduate application, living and health services.With a full-cycle service model centered on overseas students, and in-depth service networks, comprehensive teaching and research capabilities, and global elite mentor resources, Easy Group achieved a 400% annual increase in turnover from 2014 to 2016, with revenues exceeding 100 million yuan in 2019. The number of students under service has risen from single digits to more than 100,000, and the number of participants in online courses has exceeded 170,000.Currently, Easy Group has opened nearly 300 North American college courses in economics, finance, accounting, mathematics, statistics, computer science, life sciences, and engineering. Most of the tutor teams come from Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Cambridge, Stanford, World-renowned universities such as MIT, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo.In January 2020, Easy Group acquired Series A financing of millions of USD from Matrix Partner China. Yuwei was selected in 2018 Forbes China 30 Under 30 Elite List.

Lin Chengyu, the founder and CEO of Daxuewujiang (Xiamen) Educational Technology Co., Ltd. I attended Xiamen university and then Northeastern University in the United States, where I received my bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting and my master’s degree in economics. During my time in the United States, I worked in accounting companies and private equity firms, which gave me experience in finance and business management. I have entrepreneurial experience in wireless charging hardware and health software, and started the entrepreneurship of big data projects of overseas study in 2017. So far, the company has obtained angel round of financing and has received the letter of investment intent for the next round of financing. In 2019, I was selected as one of the “double hundred talents” of Xiamen city, and was named an entrepreneurial pioneering talent, receiving millions of start-up subsidies from the municipal government.

Yunhan is a 2nd year MBA student at Wharton and the founder & CEO of Aureum. Aureum is a digital family doctor provider for white-collar professionals in China, where the primary care doctor penetration rate is <5%. Unlike existing digital health firms in China (e.g. Ping-An Good Doctor) who typically link existing specialists in hospital with patients on an on-demand basis, Aureum matches each of its patient to a dedicated primary care doctor who will advise them on every step of their health journey. Launching in 2019, Aureum has a monthly renewal rate of 75% for its subscribed members. Since the Coronavirus outbreak in China, Aureum has also provided free video consultation to self-isolated patients in Wuhan, Hubei, helping them identify early symptoms and overcome anxiety during self-isolation. Prior to founding Aureum, Yunhan was an Associate at Oliver Wyman London. Yunhan is also a serial entrepreneur – his last venture was founding an online real estate platform in China which he sold to a large real estate agent. Yunhan holds a BA in Economics from University of Cambridge.

Ying Xing, the chairman of the board and founder of Enlight Global Consulting, was admitted to the Central Academy of Drama with the first place in China and accepted by the school of economics of Fudan University. She won the New Concept Writing Competition, the most popular contest in China.
Ying Xing has extensive experience in the education industry. She was part of the Accenture and Wanda Group to provide comprehensive strategies and talent solutions for international companies in China and the Asia-Pacific region. She also has intensive experience in pre-vocational education across different industries, such as culture, investment banking, consulting and big data, and provided supportive career counseling to college students.
She is currently the CEO and of EnlightCareer and in charge of the program in New York and Shanghai. In her first year of founding Enlight, she led the team to help hundreds of students successfully acquired the dream offers which boosted the brand reputation and achieved global expansion.
At present, EnlightCareer has opened offices in New York and Shanghai, united with the world’s top artificial intelligence teams and utilized AI and big data to improve the course modules. Nowadays, the number of active users of Enlight has exceeded the number of Chinese overseas students in the UK, U.S. and Australia.

Xiao Xue Graduated from Rice University with an Economics degree, and admitted to Yale’s MBA program directly after college as a Silver Scholar, a prestigious program that only accepts less than twenty applicants globally every year. In 2017, Xiao attended the TV show I am a Speaker. Her speech was pushed to all Wechat users by Tencent TV official account. In 2018, Xiao, representing Yale team, attended the TV show Who’s Still Standing? After coming back to China, Xiao founded Smile Reading Club, aiming to help young generations to gain personal growth, cultivate mentors and friends and realize their dreams through reading, learning and sharing. In half a year, the program already attracted nearly a million fans, held more than ten events and acquired more than two thousand paying members. Its related video programs had more than a hundred million views on the Internet. Xiao is also a blogger and vlogger in the education and psychology field. In the past three years, she produced a large number of articles and videos sharing her stories and learning, and helped more than a hundred people one-on-one solve their life problems. Her articles were shared by top Wechat Official Accounts and her inspiring stories were reported by top medias such as People’s Daily.

Sherry Xiao holds a bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Maryland-College Park and is currently pursuing a master degree in Media Ventures from Boston University. Sherry was the recipient of “Emerging New Leaders in Media” scholarship from Boston University College of Communication.  She was a mentor at Boston University IDG innovation center. During her undergraduate time, she founded a boutique cross-culture public relation consulting company Sherrynetwork.com. In 2019, She founded Aart Education ltd, focusing on helping young Chinese artists find better education and boost career opportunities in the United States. Sherry is a good storyteller, and she knows about how to discover a potential star from her past experiences working as reporter and talent agent.  Sherry and her team have helped over 200 students in 2019 and she plans to hold multiple art galleries for young Chinese artists in New York, Boston and Los Angeles in 2020.
