First blues festival in Redondo Beach
The first Ragin Cajun Blues Festival takes over the Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach Saturday, Oct. 20, with live music, food and other festivities.
Co-owner Steve Hodges said the festival, which takes place from noon to 8 p.m., will be a fun event for the whole community.
“It’s about people having a good time the whole day, not just waiting for the next act to come on,” Hodges said.
Headlining the musical talent are Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, Eric Sardinas & Big Motor, Reverend Tall Tree and Davey Knowles and his band.
Ragin Cajun, serving up alligator to its famous peach cobbler, will be joined by other food vendors including Hawaiian Grindz, Trap Kitchen and Billionaire Burger Boyz.
The event also features a Dixieland Band; beer, wine and beverage stands; comedy act; games including a Jumbo Connect Four, bean bag toss and giant checkers board; and raffle prizes. A lemonade stand, along with the raffle, will raise money for the Ed Asner Family Center. Also, each guest will receive a souvenir bag with gifts from vendors and sponsors.
General admission tickets are $25 pre-sale at eventbrite.com or at Ragin Cajun Cafe, located at 525 S. Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach. Tickets day of the show are $28. Children 12 years and younger are free. Food and drinks are sold separately.
Hodges said he hopes Ragin Cajun will host two events annually, the Blues Festival, as well as a crawfish boil in the spring.
