OXFORD CUTS TIES WITH HUAWEI

Oxford University has suspended donations and sponsorships from Chinese tech giant Huawei over “public concerns raised in recent months.”

The decision comes after Huawei has faced accusations that its equipment could be used for spying. Huawei also faced accusations this week from federal prosecutors in the U.S. that the company was involved in the theft of U.S. trade secrets.

“Huawei has been notified of the decision, which the university will keep under review. The decision applies both to the funding of research contracts and of philanthropic donations,” the university said in a statement obtained by the BBC.
