21-Year-Old College Student Killed in Redondo Beach Hit-and-Run

A pedestrian in a crosswalk was hit and killed by a vehicle on Aviation Boulevard in Redondo Beach and police are seeking the driver.

The vehicle was described as a black Audi Q5 SUV with the partial license plate 7MB and damage to the front windshield and hood, according to Redondo Beach Police.

The accident happened at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 in the 1500 block of Aviation Boulevard at the Grant Avenue intersection, according to Lt. Shawn Freeman of the Redondo Beach Police Department. A woman was crossing from the west sidewalk on Aviation at Grant when a vehicle traveling south on Aviation struck her and kept going, said Lt. Shawn Freeman.

According to the victim’s family, Pinedo graduated from Rosemead High School in 2015 and worked at the Manhattan Country Club in Manhattan Beach before attending San Francisco State University. She last resided in Daly City while completing her third year at San Francisco State.

The family held a prayer gathering at their Rosemead home at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Pinedo was walking with her older sister, Michelle Pinedo, when she was struck, police said.
