Egypt railcar crash at station kills 25

At least 28 people have been killed and 50 injured after a train crash sparked a large fire at Cairo’s main railway station, Egyptian state media say.

A locomotive crashed into a barrier at the Egyptian capital’s main train station on Wednesday, causing its fuel tank to explode and triggering a huge fire, killing at least 25 people, many of them critically, and officials said the death toll could rise.

Egypt‘s National Railway Authority confirmed the accident, saying several people were killed and injured.

In a statement, the authority said the fire broke out after a train derailed and collided with a concrete barrier at the station, without giving further details.
