This handsome actor  Anson Chen (Hsi An Chen) is one busy man, acting in movies and television and tirelessly working on the annual Asian World Film Festival, (AWFF) acquiring new cinematic projects and networking with filmmakers on behalf of the nonprofit organization.

“The festival brings the very best Asian films to Hollywood so as to draw more attention to the location’s impressive wealth of filmmakers,” said Chen, who is the Outreach Liaison for China Relations. “I assist the co-founders by working towards strengthening the ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.”

Chen has visited Beijing with the festival’s organizers, meeting with numerous major movie studios and producers. “It is truly my pleasure to invite them to participate.”

The young actor is really looking forward to the Chinese directors and producers that he can bring over to the United States, to attending the 2019 AWFF in Los Angeles, California.

“I have enjoyed being the liaison bringing quality Asian films to the festival. Coming together through our cross-cultural collaboration, our festival showcases films from over 50 countries across Asia and is fascinating to be a part of!”

Chen is a spiritual, cerebral actor, with a B.A. degree in philosophy from Fu Jen University in Taiwan. After his military service, he decided to enhance his acting and producing skills, by coming  to California to pursuit his movie career.

While studying at University of California-Riverside Extension, he enrolled into their joint program at Los Angeles Film School.

“I became enamored by how Hollywood showcases a variety of genres, everything from drama and comedy to animation and super hero movies. I so admire and get inspired by the energy actors and directors have in the United States.”

Now more than ever, Chen feels now is the time to make his majestic debut into Hollywood movies and television.

“As an actor trained in two different background, because I understand both Far East and Western cultures, I believe I bring unique skills to any role I audition for,” he noted. “And with the phenomenal success of films like ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and ‘Black Panther,’ I think the major studios now understand that audiences are much more ready to accept diverse casts.”

Since his return to Asia after finishing his education in the States, Chen has been traveling between China and Taiwan, working on many productions. He has also been working on several new coproductions with U.S. film and television directors, and has several scripts he has written.

“I can’t wait to work on my new creative projects in Hollywood, it’s everything I have ever dreamed of!!” he enthused. “In the meantime, I keep auditioning for challenging roles, and aspire to broaden my audition opportunities to Taiwan and China. I am so grateful to have so much work being offered to me.”

Chen has also acted in several popular music videos, done by popular singers from Taiwan and China. “My Happy Life is Just Right” had over 600,000 views and “Cannot Get Hurt” got over three million YouTube views.  He was the lead actor in both successful MVs. “I had a great time acting with the singers, to help them interpret the songs,” he enthused.

Chen is also a magnificent singer, working with one of the most successful Asian music composers in Hollywood, the Emmy Award-winning Nathan Wang. “We are working on my first EP. When I come back to Los Angeles, we will shoot a music video, which I am very excited to put together!” It seems that his fans will have some exciting release to look forward to soon.
