ELAC Ranked #6 in the Nation and #1 in California for Community College Degrees and Certificates granted in 2017 to Hispanic Students
East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is the best college for Hispanic students in California according to the February/March 2019 issue of Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine. Hispanic Outlook on Education delivers nationwide news about Hispanic, Latino and Latina achievements in education. The February/March issue is available to download on the Hispanic Outlook on Education website.
In 2017 ELAC awarded 3,928 degrees and certificates and 2,688 or 68% of those were given to Hispanic students. According to Hispanic Outlook on Education magazine that ranks ELAC as the number one community college in California and number six in the nation.
East Los Angeles College saw a 605 increase in degrees and certificates awards to Hispanic students from the 2014-2015 to the 2017-2018 school year according to the Chancellor’s Office Management Information System. This is more evidence that ELAC is consistently a top college choice for Hispanic students in Los Angeles and an education leader in Hispanic issues. The top ten nationally ranked colleges on the Hispanic Outlook on Education list are shown in the table below.
