Global venture capital conference opens in Qingdao

The 2019 Global (Qingdao) Venture Capital Conference commenced on May 9, 2019 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.

More than 1,000 venture capitalists, investors, deal makers and business elites from all around the world gathered at the event to exchange perspectives and experiences, and share insights and suggestions on how Qingdao can emerge as a global VC center.

Wang Qingxian, Party secretary of Qingdao, delivered a keynote speech at the conference.

Wang extended warm welcome to all of the guests. He said that Qingdao aims to build itself into a modern metropolis full of vitality and the spirit of innovation, in which the in-depth integration of talent and capital play a critical role.

Wang said that, Qingdao, an economic powerhouse in northern China, bears the responsibility to boost the regional development. Building the city into a global VC center is a significant move of Qingdao’s opening up based on introducing capital from all over the world and injecting strong momentum into economic development and scientific and technological innovation.

He added Qingdao will make efforts in talent recruiting, capital introduction, infrastructure construction and complete government services to create a sound environment and boost the growth of the local venture capital industry.

Wang hoped that more venture capital institutions will settle down in the city and promote its development.

The two-day event includes a series of activities such as forums, round table discussions, startup business roadshow competitions and an award ceremony 40 under-40 investors.
