6.2-magnitude earthquake hits Xinjiang: CENC

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Hutubi County in Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Changji, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at 1:15 p.m. Thursday (Beijing Time), said the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter is located at 43.83 degrees north latitude and 86.35 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 6 km.

The center initially said it was a 6.4-magnitude quake based on preliminary measurement.
