Operation Love: Care Packages for Families
Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas has partnered with nonprofits and businesses to host Operation Love: Care Packages for Families, where donated meals, groceries, diapers and hand sanitizers will be distributed to nearly 100 preselected families with young children in South Los Angeles who have been especially hard-hit by the economic impacts of the pandemic. These families were referred by Los Angeles County departments, as well as community and faith-based institutions.
Partners include the County Department of Children and Family Services, LA Regional Food Bank, Kilroy Realty, Fueling the Fearless, Good+Foundation, and RPP Products, Inc. The primary nonprofit partner is Faith Foster Families Network (3FN).
The Food Bank is donating grocery boxes. Kilroy Realty is purchasing to-go meals from restaurants that are closed because of the extended Safer at Home order. Fueling the Fearless will be transporting and distributing these meals. Diapers have been donated by Good+Foundation. Hand sanitizer will be donated by RPP Products, which previously specialized in automotive lubricants but adapted during the pandemic to manufacture personal protective equipment.
