WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) joined a virtual roundtable with his House colleagues to talk about our country’s child care crisis. The event brought national experts and stakeholders together to discuss solutions to the child care crisis with other members of Congress. Rep. Cisneros asked questions regarding sanitation costs, state and local funding affecting the child care crisis, and school safety.
“As the father of two, six-year-old boys, I understand the balance between taking care of your kids and having to go to work. I’ve heard from countless parents and child care small businesses in the 39th district concerned about our child care crisis,” said Rep. Cisneros. “We moved in the right direction when the House passed two bipartisan bills to deliver child care relief, but we need to do more. As parents go back to work, access to safe, reliable child care is critical to reopening our economy and our country.”
On July 29th, Rep. Cisneros voted to pass a pair of child care relief bills, which include his bipartisan bill with Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE-02). The Child Care is Essential Act (H.R. 7027) and the Child Care for Economic Recovery Act (H.R. 7327) both passed the House with bipartisan support. Rep. Cisneros’ bill, the Helping Child Care Providers Respond to the Coronavirus Public Health Emergency Act (H.R. 7720), was included in the Child Care is Essential Act.
