Committee of 100 Statement on the 2021 U.S. Presidential Inauguration
New York, New York (January 19, 2021) – The following statement was issued by Zhengyu Huang, President of Committee of 100:
“Our country is at an inflection point where the policies, principles, and politics of the next four years will dramatically shape the future of our country. There has never been a more important moment to come together as one people. As such, we call on all parties to ensure a safe and peaceful Inauguration Day.
Committee of 100’s members are proud American citizens who value our Chinese cultural heritage. We are an organization united in our belief in core American values and the fundamental principles of equality and fairness for all people, regardless of race, religion, national origin, gender, or creed.
We believe that America is stronger because of its immigrant heritage and diverse citizenry. The lawlessness and rioting which took place at the U.S. Capitol this month are unacceptable and a stark reminder of the dangers that lay ahead and the importance of this moment for national unity. As an American organization founded more than 30 years ago, Committee of 100 calls on all fellow Americans to come together to rebuild our country post-COVID and to ensure equality and inclusion for all. Committee of 100 also stands ready to assist in a more productive US-China relationship to facilitate a speedier global recovery.”
