Redondo Beach, Torrance streets to close for July 4th fireworks shows

Several streets in Torrance and Redondo Beach will be closed Tuesday to accommodate crowds expected for Fourth of July fireworks shows.

Redondo Beach police are encouraging the public to avoid driving in the pier area unless absolutely necessary during the Seaside Lagoon Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.

From 9-11 p.m., the following streets will be closed or significantly impacted:

• Portofino Way

• Harbor Drive

• Herondo Street

• Anita Street/190th Street

• The 200-300 blocks of South Pacific Avenue

• The 100-1200 blocks of North Catalina Avenue

• The 100-1600 blocks of South Catalina Avenue

• The 100-1300 blocks of Beryl Street

• Torrance Boulevard from the pier to Prospect Avenue

• Pacific Coast Highway from 190th Street to Knob Hill Avenue

• Esplanade from Catalina Avenue to Vista del Mar

In Torrance, several road closures are planned for the city’s second annual fireworks show at 9 p.m. at the Civic Center.

The closures, beginning at 7 p.m., are:

• Maple Avenue between Torrance Boulevard and California Street

• Civic Center Drive between Madrona Avenue and Maple Avenue

• Maricopa Street at Maple Avenue

These streets will be open to residents only: Felbar Avenue, Fonthill Avenue, Kornblum Avenue, Teri Avenue, Cranbrook Avenue and Hickory Avenue.

The city has designated two viewing areas for the Fourth of July fireworks show: the Los Angeles County Courthouse parking lot at 825 Maple Ave. and the adjacent Toyota Sports Complex at 599 Maple Ave.

Selling or possessing fireworks is illegal in both Redondo Beach and Torrance. Violators are subject to a minimum $100 fine. In Torrance, police officers and firefighters will conduct special enforcement operations to identify people violating fireworks laws.
