The Ceremony marked the largest in both dollar amounts and number of recipients in the history of ELAC. The amounts were $206,150 awarded from the Foundation, $30,000 from the Associated Student Union (ASU), and $13,800 from the Academic Senate. The Scholarships included the newly established Jose Blas Sanchez Gonzalez Memorial Scholarship Memorial Fund, Richard and Cynthia Leza Hispanic Scholarship, Juan Martinez Ooustsadning Service Scholarship, and Vince Carlos Moretti GRIT Scholarship.
“ELAC is proud of every one of our scholars who were awarded a scholarship during this ceremony. These students have worked very hard to receive these scholarships. To see the highest number of scholarship recipients in our history is remarkable. I know that each one of them will continue to achieve their academic goals beyond ELAC.” Said ELAC President Dr. Alberto J. Román.
Edison International sponsored the event. “Edison International is once again proud to not only sponsor the Annual Scholarship event but also to provide over $30,000 in scholarships for our ELAC students,” said Marissa Castro-Salvati, ELAC Foundation Board President and So CAL Edison Government Relations Manager.
