Rally Outside Manhattan Beach City Hall to Recall DA Gascon

Manhattan Beach, CA – On Friday, July 30th community members, crime victims’ family members, elected officials, and representatives from Stop the Madness: Support Recalling District Attorney Gascon Now met outside the Manhattan Beach City Hall located at 1400 Highland Ave., Manhattan Beach, California.

Speakers at the event included family members and close friends of crime victims, along with Manhattan Beach City Councilmember Joe Franklin, and Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami. The speakers reiterated the importance of signing the recall petition, getting involved to share the effort, and the need to support the cause. In addition to collecting signatures, Recall Gascon Now was also signing up volunteers who wanted to walk the Manhattan Beach neighborhood to take the petitions to like-minded neighbors, raise awareness on this cause crucial to Los Angeles County, and collect signatures from those wanting to sign.

The emphasis of this event was to raise awareness that the very polices DA Gascon enacted, since his first day in office, have only gone to undermine achieving justice for victims, to prevent the enforcement of the rule of law, and have resulted in seeing an alarming rise of crime throughout the county. Recall supporters are encouraging that the law should be equitably enforced, not selectively enforced and that no one individual, elected or not, should be picking and choosing which laws to apply and which crimes to prosecute.
